I have Apple 30” need what to run on 2021 mBP 14?

Could anyone tell me exactly what i need to run my 30” Cinema display on the new 2021 mBP 14?
I am using it now on my 2014 mBP with this adapter.
The monitor still works great I don’t feel like upgrading that yet.

If it’s not worth trying to mess with it then I might consider going with a new IMac

Is that an Apple Mini-DisplayPort to Dual Link DVI adapter? If so, then you just need a USB-C to Mini Displayport Adapter.

Or you can get a newer adapter like the Club-3d CAC-1510 or CAC-1510A depending on whether or not your Apple 30" Cinema Display is the newer version or the older version. But the CAC-1510 and CAC-1510A and similar adapters may have flickering issues with black backgrounds (so might not be noticeable during normal use).

I'm running a 2007 30" ACD with a MacBook Pro 16 M1 Max via the original DVI Dual Link connector/power brick. I initially used the Club 3D adaptor mentioned above but it gave me some problems so I swapped it for the similar CableCreation version. I just have to power up the display first and manually adjust the brightness. I also use the ACD as a USB hub so I plug the ACD USB cable into the MBP directly with a basic USB-C adaptor. So far it works great.

So if I continue to use my Dual Link DVI all I need is a USB - C to min display adapter thats on the DVI.
Will that be the best way to go?

It depends.

The Apple adapter that you have might work better with black areas of the display. Have you ever noticed any flickering or static?

The USB-C to Dual Link DVI adapters are smaller and don't require a separate USB type A connection for extra power.

The problems I had with the Club 3D adaptor were similar to the flickering and static described in the thread posted by joevt. I replaced it as pictured below (ACD Dual Link DVI male into CableCreation DVI-->USB-C adaptor) and it's been clean so far (knock on wood).

Not sure if the ACD USB cable needs to be plugged in or not, but I'm using it that way and it works. Might be an alternative to your Mini DisplayPort adaptor.

That cable is for the USB ports of the display and for brightness control from keyboard. I think the USB on my ACD 30" started failing so the display works best with it not connected. The FireWire I think has been broken forever. So I don't have either of them connected.

I plug my USB keyboard & mouse into the ACD so I use it for that. I also run a MIDI keyboard thru a Maschine MK3 and to my surprise they work great plugged into the ACD USB input - no latency problems. (saves me from buying a dock)

Overall I'm pleased that this old 30" ACD works - definitely worth the trouble to find the right adaptor.

For a visual here's my basic music setup with a 14" MBP - before I replaced it with a 16".
