I like boxes, to stuff things into. That way I don’t have to look at it before I open that box gain. And it keeps my focus on the thing I’m actually working on.
Apple Photos has Post It Notes you can put onto a picture that explains what kind of box you WOULD have liked to put that photo into, if you had boxes. But Apple puts everything into one big box, so it’s ALL THERE. And finding the right thing can be…difficult at times.
I would like only to have images and videos shot on my iPhone in my main Apple Photos feed. Not also every meme or naked woman photo or video my friends sent me when they were drunk.
Now you can put that naked woman into a "Album", but it’s still in your main feed. You can hide an individual photo, which removes it from your feed, but then also the Album. There’s no way of finding THAT photo again, unless you go into a specific hidden photos album, which shows ALL hidden photos…in one big box, not the album you’ve created for it.
You can use FaceiID for the Photos App and off course the hidden album, but not a specific album. And you can’t view any hidden photos from within an album.
Now replace "naked woman" with anything you want, taxes, pictures for your doctor, that dog poo you found funny, what is not even relevant for the discussion here.
The way Apple Photos is currently is designed for a reality that doesn’t exist anymore. A past with way less stuff stored on our devices.
I’d just like to be able to FaceID a specific folder (and not have pictures in that album show up in my feed) or remove a specific Album from the feed or stream or whatever Apple calls it these days. All I know is I have way too much stuff stored that one box is sufficient and there’s also more private stuff I don’t want to have pop up if I want to show pictures to friends or family.
And yes, you can use files, but that’s clunky and is a poor way to display and look through images with.
