Why I switched
I switched in 2001 from Windows to Mac.
I found that windows machines never could handle what I needed to do, wether it be typing a Word document, trying to cancel a print job from the spool (This especially caused the OS to freak out ), Work on a Photoshop document ( trying to run Illustrator was a joke ), or burn a CD.
The Windows OS was always sluggish and giving me grief and complaining about something with its annoying popup error messages. Then there was all the spyware, viruses, dealing with Symantec products hogging all the available system resources, and installing too many of Microsofts updates.
Networking Windows is a freaking nightmare, for those who have not send months or possibly years in MCSE classes. At one point in time I had networked at home 2 desktops running Win2K, one notebook running XP, and a Mac running Jaguar, then poof one day the two Win2K desktops decided they werent going to participate on the network, then the laptop followed. Trying to hold a group therapy session and get them all to play nice on the network and talk to each other took some time to do.
Before I had switched I was running WIN2k, and noticed that it was acting more strange then usual, so I decided to backup all my files to CD.
I had burned about half of what I needed to to CDs, I did not recieve any error messages during the burns, then the computer crashed and it crashed HARD. I had to run Safe mode to get back into the system, all my files were either gone or corrupt. I had to reinstall the OS, because the system was so trashed that it wouldnt boot normally, and would only boot using safe mode.
So once I reinstalled the OS, I grabbed the back up CDs to try to get things back to normal. The CD's were unusable, the burns were botched. I could see files on the CD's, but they were corrupt and the file sizes were 0 k. So I gave Microsoft a big hardy "Thank you for destroying my portfolio", and a "Your number one Microsoft" (Using a choice finger for the #1) and went out and bought my Mac.
Now whenever a friend or co-worker seeks help with their windows machine, I shrug my shoulder and say something along the linces of Im sorry I cant help you, I have wasted too much time, energy, and emotions in trying to deal with Windows OS in my life, I suggest you invest in a Mac.
I have had no problems with my Mac.
