I have to make a movie about..sewers

The extra credit assignment for my chemistry class is that I can make any more that is somewhat based around sewers. It can be a comedy, drama, anything.

I am totally un-inspired and I would really like some ideas

I have access to 3 people including myself, a Canon HV-20, a Tripod, and my PowerMac.

IF you can find the local sewerage company to let you have access to a man-hole cover, you could do some interesting footage from inside a drain and compare, say, 8am to 2am or something. Or a rainy day to a dry day.

There's a great Clancy Brothers song called "They're Moving Father's Grave to Build a Sewer." Perhaps the lyrics to the song could be made into a short comedy.

Anyway is there anything more specific that your film must cover (like how the sewer system is set up)?

You could do a comedy from a sewer rats point of view. We keep crapping in their house so they come to the surface and crap in ours!

They could strategically plan which houses to hit then go an pull off the operation. Chemical warfare at its worst!

Looks like all you have to do is mess around with the camera. Go have fun and get dirty!

Being a screenwriter ... ... a variation on that scene in Spielberg's Minority Report where the camera is above apartment dwellers as the roboSpiders search each room comes to mind:

Show manhole cover as it slides back, descend into sewer, have camera pull back slowly, every once in awhile show something "squirting in" and splashing into sewer main (including humorous bit showing alligator-like animals thrashing about). Stop at one pipe, turn camera towards it peering upwards, and fade-in conversation:

Hysterical man - WHAT DID YOU PUT IN MY FOOD HARRIET? ARE YOU TRYING TO errghhh aarrgghh (retching sounds) ...

Camera pulls out of pipe, turns away while pulling back again, flushing noise heard, phosphorescent orange liquid "squirts in".

Well I have access to a HUGE piping system under my town.

Anyone can just walk in, or even drive in.

I consider myself an avid movie maker, so don't feel hesitant to make any difficult recommendations.

Oh and yeh, those examples I showed you were terrible. But the Lord of the Toilet thing won in 2006.
