    UPDATE:I'm done, here it is!

    http://www.vimeo.com/1039501

The extra credit assignment for my chemistry class is that I can make any more that is somewhat based around sewers. It can be a comedy, drama, anything.

I am totally un-inspired and I would really like some ideas:eek:

Here are some examples of previous ones from years before:

I have access to 3 people including myself, a Canon HV-20, a Tripod, and my PowerMac.

    Help greatly appreciated!

    Four words.

    Camera
    on
    a
    stick

    (or Camera on a rope)

IF you can find the local sewerage company to let you have access to a man-hole cover, you could do some interesting footage from inside a drain and compare, say, 8am to 2am or something. Or a rainy day to a dry day.

There's a great Clancy Brothers song called "They're Moving Father's Grave to Build a Sewer." Perhaps the lyrics to the song could be made into a short comedy.

They're moving father's grave to build a sewer
They're moving it regardless of expense.
They're moving his remains to lay down nine-inch Drains
To irrigate some rich bloke's residence.

Now what's the use of having a religion?
If when you're dead you cannot get some peace
'Cause some society chap wants a pipeline to his Tank
And moves you from your place of rest and peace...

Now father in his life was not a quitter
And I'm sure that he'll not be a quitter now.
And in his winding sheet, he will haunt that privy Seat
And only let them go when he'll allow.

Now won't there be some bleedin' consternation,
And won't those city toffs begin to rave!
But it's no more than they deserve, 'cause they had The bleedin' nerve
To muck about a British workman's grave.

Yeah talk about your s--tty assignments! I hope making it isn't too draining. :)

Anyway is there anything more specific that your film must cover (like how the sewer system is set up)?

You could do a comedy from a sewer rats point of view. We keep crapping in their house so they come to the surface and crap in ours! :D

They could strategically plan which houses to hit then go an pull off the operation. Chemical warfare at its worst!

Took a peek at those 2 videos. Not to impressive.

Looks like all you have to do is mess around with the camera. Go have fun and get dirty! :D

Being a screenwriter ... ... a variation on that scene in Spielberg's Minority Report where the camera is above apartment dwellers as the roboSpiders search each room comes to mind:

Show manhole cover as it slides back, descend into sewer, have camera pull back slowly, every once in awhile show something "squirting in" and splashing into sewer main (including humorous bit showing alligator-like animals thrashing about). Stop at one pipe, turn camera towards it peering upwards, and fade-in conversation:

Hysterical man - WHAT DID YOU PUT IN MY FOOD HARRIET? ARE YOU TRYING TO errghhh aarrgghh (retching sounds) ...

Camera pulls out of pipe, turns away while pulling back again, flushing noise heard, phosphorescent orange liquid "squirts in".

    ===

Keep travelling backwards, occasionally looking up, listening to conversations and ...

Well I have access to a HUGE piping system under my town.

Anyone can just walk in, or even drive in.

I consider myself an avid movie maker, so don't feel hesitant to make any difficult recommendations.

Oh and yeh, those examples I showed you were terrible. But the Lord of the Toilet thing won in 2006.

Come to Toronto for your movie.

If the pumps ever fail, the entire downtown core will flood with s**t.

The sewers are below lake level.
