On my Apple TV 4K when I bring it back from sleep, if I don’t restart it, YouTube and other streaming Apps can be very pixelated/not load at all.

when I go to settings and restart itll work as expected.

Anyone else have this problem?

I would say that my ATV 4K (refurb) is asleep 95% of the time, but when we wake it things work as expected. Try checking the manual online to see if there is a hard reset. Otherwise, I would contact Apple Support and get it replaced.

The last week I have had a problem with the Amazon Prime Video app not loading unless I completely restart time I want to watch.

There's issues with Prime Video that they need to fix. Updated to 13.2 on my 4K and Prime is still a mess. Easier to watch off my 4K TV.

I have a different problem, also related to waking from sleep. Frequently but not always when I try to wake my Apple TV 4K from sleep, nothing happens. No video shows on the TV and I get the “input not detected” message. However, I know the Apple TV has power because the light is on AND if I play with the volume button, I do see the volume slider on the screen and it moves appropriately. When this happens my only recourse is to restart the Apple TV. Big pain in the butt. And yes I am using the latest version of TV OS.

Yea, that’s basically the same problem I have. Thankfully the Apple TV restarts pretty quickly but it’s an annoying problem.

sounds like a cable issue. I've seen similar issues others have had that were resolved with a new cable.

This is the 4K won’t sleep properly. If I leave the set ON it will go to sleep (the ATV) and the set turns off on its own timer. But I just want to turn the TV off and have the ATV time out and sleep. Been through all the threads on this google pulls up at Apple support, nothing works. I just restart it as needed.

I had a similar issue 3 days ago. It happened out of the blue. I discovered I could not play a single video from any of my streaming apps. But if I restarted the device, it worked perfectly again.

It took me about a day of hourly restarts to realise the precursor or trigger for this event. The precursor was my Apple TV 4K going into screen saver mode (on my device, this normally happens after 1-2 mins of inactivity); if I tried to play a TV or movie afterwards, nothing would happen. I simply couldn’t play any videos. I soon also discovered, that I also couldn’t AirPlay videos to my Apple TV 4K - If I tried streaming a purchased movie from my Apple TV app on my iPad to my Apple TV (something I’ve done hundreds of time before) my iPad generated a notification saying something like this “the file format for this movie is incompatible on the destination device”. Of course, such a notification is obviously incredulous and ridiculous as I’ve successfully played this exact movie on my Apple TV many many times and it’s in the native MP4 format supported by all Apple devices. In other words, this was another example of the bug/problem effecting my Apple TV.

My initial workaround was resetting the device whenever the fault appeared - as this restored function. Annoying but it was an effective workaround at least. But after resetting it 9x yesterday I decided it was time to call Apple Support.

SOLUTION: I’ve just spoken with the very ever so helpful Apple Support. They were brilliant. They talked me through the situation. Basically what worked to resolve this was a very simple solution indeed - go to settings/ system and press restart + the very moment after you’ve pressed restart - pull out the power cord 🔌 at back of Apple TV - and wait 1 minute before reconnecting.

I’m really not sure why the standard restart sequence that I tried 15x never worked but this hard restart did. The fact is, it just did. I’ll report back if the issue returns but it’s been 24 hrs thus far and it’s working perfectly so fingers crossed 🤞

I have to restart my apple tv when I browsed through netflix and the picture starts stuttering because of lack memory. This is annoying

Been having this dropping connection on all devices running tvOS 16.4. Having to restart every time to get it back working. I'm amazed I can't find anybody else online with this issue. I've left feedback already with the 16.4 betas (which also shows as "recent similar reports: none"). There's nothing wrong with my network though, it all works perfect, plus the issue started the moment 16.4 was installed.

Stop buying non-shielding cables if you have smart phone near a cable! To get rid of it use shielded ethernet cables or keep your smart phone away from your network cables!

So my devices on 16.3 are working perfect and my devices on 16.4 have issues the moment 16.4 is installed but it’s all caused by cables. Even if I switch a 16.3 device to the exact spot of the 16.4 device and it runs fine. Yeah, thanks for your input but I’m pretty sure that’s not it.

Best advice - call Apple!
