I don't recall seeing one besides mine. I do hang out with an older crowd, so that could be part of it.

The price is $799.00 and its a new design (bigger) but not much in terms of features to sway others to purchase it. Bestbuy employees I spoke to told me its not a seller and they have plenty in stock if you want one today.

I don't look to see what others wear, mostly because I don't really care.
Well, sure. Most of us probably don't actively look to see what kinds of watches others are wearing. I certainly don't, and I'm guessing the OP doesn't either.

I'm guessing the OP is simply saying they have never by happenstance spotted someone wearing one.

For instance, I might notice another person is wearing an Apple Watch as they grab the hand strap next to mine on the metro. Or as they hand me my change and receipt in the supermarket checkout lane. Or as they stretch their arm while pointing out something to their child while passing me on the sidewalk.

Those are just a few of the hundreds of examples I can think of when one might notice what kind of watch another person is wearing without actually looking for it. :)

Yeah it is like vehicles people drive. I might notice at a glance the same model and make I drive but it then blends into the background. My vehicle is a rather rare sub model as it is a diesel Chevrolet Equinox from 2018. That particular model was only offered in 2018 and 2019 and it was a poor selling sub model and discontinued. I actually only seen three of this sub model in the wild besides mine and it is hard to know but it has a small blue plate on the tailgate.

On the Apple Watches I notice them as japannime mentioned. But to actively look I just do not have the time. I also have never seen a Apple Watch ultra in the wild and have only seen one on display at the the Apple Store and I glanced at it but I have the capabilities similar to the ultra that in the series 8 I have already

in our company of 10 people , only 1 wears ultra . we all do sports and track our performance through the clock .and a lot of people who wear apple watches and don 't do sports - they don 't need ultra at all .

Could it be that everyone who has bought it is now worried that it looks too big on their wrist. They watch it in the mirror at home, trying to understand. However, they are unsure and leave it at home when they go out. Outside, they feel more secure without it.

Funny, it’s the second smallest watch I own. It actually kinda feels awkwardly small and light.

It has to depend on the metropolitan area you're part of also. I doubt I'd see as many in my hometown of 115,000 people, but in the Orlando metro area, I see them quite often.

Outside of the Apple Store, of course. I have not seen a single person sport the Ultra, even at the gym or at mass gatherings like the mall. I thought that the Ultra was popular? That seems kind of odd.
I guess they’re not selling as good as the various posts in this forum might suggest - Apple is doomed

2 factors are my guess... Too big for most females so that's a big chunk of the population... and then at $799 its another big chunk of the population that can't or won't buy it. I rarely ever saw people wearing the stainless steel watch... Also due to the price I'm assuming.

Not seen one at all other than on the internet. Plenty of regular AW though.

Outside of Apple fandom it’s a pretty niche product really, for most people all the functionality of the series/SE on their wrist all in size of an after dinner mint is perfect.

My old massive Garmin 310xt was just used for runs and then taken off, if I had an ultra I would do the same.

I actually never wore a watch until I bought my S3 (my dad gave me his £10K Breitling which has been in my drawer for 12yrs).

At the Apple Store this past weekend, at least a couple of the women employees were wearing Ultras. Both women were petite, and the watch did not look “too big” on them.

And it’s not at all uncommon to see people, men and women both, with mechanical watches that make the Ultra look puny.

A great many MacRumors readers have an obsession about watch sizes. The rest of the world generally does not.

In a similar vein, good luck finding an actual Rolex for $800. And they’re the bargain-basement of luxury watches — the Mercedes, if you will. Impressive, to be sure, but no Rolls Royce or Bentley. Considering how many people drive a Mercedes or sport a Rolex, it’s safe to say that there are plenty of people for whom the Ultra is too cheap as opposed to too expensive.

Rather, the reason there aren’t many Ultras in the wild … is pretty much the same as the reason there aren’t that many 14 Pro Max iPhones in the wild. There are lots and lots and lots of  Watches out there, pretty much everywhere, and also lots and lots and lots of iPhones. But most people are getting at least four or five years out of their gadgets these days; right off the bat, at most a quarter are going to have the current model. And, of those, most are buying the mid-range models; without looking up numbers, I’d be surprised if more than ten percent are buying the top-of-the-line of any product segment.

Which works out to, back of the envelope, at most just a few percent of people who wear an  Watch wearing an Ultra. Which is totally consistent with “I have yet to see another person wear the Ultra when out in public,” especially if the original poster isn’t often in crowds with significant numbers of technophiles in conditions where wrists are casually visible.

Now add in that the Ultra was introduced in the Fall when people would have started wearing more long-sleeve shirts and jackets, and that it’s still the dead of winter when short sleeves are in the distinct minority even on campus at Arizona State University right now … and is it really at all surprising?

Cheers,

b&

I saw 3 or 4 Ultras in Turkey but it is of course very few compared to the number of Series 5, 6, 7s I saw.
