I swapped to the smaller S6 (my first AW after a short test with a heavily discounted S3) & returned the larger one at launch as it felt like a TV on my arm. I came here today to read-up on Ultra 2 rumours for September & remembered that it'd likely feel way too big for me ...

FWIW I've only seen one Ultra in the wild so far - a client based in London who is big into distance running, he likes it.

I’m not a fan of her Ultra myself, it wears too big on me and not fussed on its design. Feature-wise it’s the most capable Apple Watch. It’s quite a bit more expensive in Europe compared to the US and maybe this has effected the reception somewhat? Most people I run with or am aware of seem to use Garmin. I’m the only one on my Strava group with an Apple Watch funnily enough.

I tried the Ultra for a period of running but just didn’t enjoy it as much as my Garmin, having tattoos made the heart rate monitor unreliable and I wasn’t prepared to buy another chest strap when I already had one. It has only the Ant+ connection and the Apple Watch only supports Bluetooth HRM!

However, one of the guys I run with loves his Ultra and he was a previous Fenix user! I have since reverted to a traditional running Watch but have moved to COROS and I can’t see me going back to Garmin any time soon.

So my last Apple Watch was the stainless steel one. I like the weight and the feel of it and since I don't really wear any other jewelry, I don't mind maying the price. Right now I have the Series 6 Apple Watch which still works fine and looks terrific. Were I to upgrade, I am sure that I would spend at least $799 for a watch but I have no need for the Ultra, my current watch already captures my activity well enough and though I would look at the Ultra, I would likely get SS again.
Like you I had steel for S0, S2 and S4. For S7 I went with space black titanium.

Agree that the weight, look and sapphire is all worth it.

Must say though, the Ultra with the fresh and sporty look IMO was what I needed to be all in again

On vacation recently to the NE (New Hamshire, Mass, Maine, NYC) I probably noticed at least a dozen or so.

A month or so back, we had a Fedex delivery, and as I was signing the guy in, I noticed he was wearing an Ultra. He saw mine, and asked if he could ask a question about the watch. I told him to go ahead.

He asked if there was a way to turn off the button on the side, because he kept accidently triggering the siren, then demonstrated how if he moved his hand in relation to his wrist, it could set it off. I told him to go into the watch app on the phone and he could do that, or change what the button did. Judging from how dirty his alpine band was, he has had the watch for sometime.

I see so many people here in socal. Just regular people of all shapes and sizes don’t ask me how I know.
