I think the MBA is the red headed step child and won't be getting much love from apple, I could be wrong, its been known to happen :p but I think apple's direction may be to reduce the MBA in marketing and improvements and improve the MB with more models and options.

I have all the red headed products. Gah!

13" MBA (though less red headed than 11" admitedly), 6+, and rMini!

Screw :apple: love, take matters into my own hands with JB and Mavericks.

my 13" rMBP refurbished that's arriving today I'm going to roll back too if it isn't already on it.

I'm planning to replace my old 15" MBP (the first unibody one ever released - it's getting old) and trying to decide between the new MB and the 13" Air with upgrades to i7 and 8GB RAM. Weight is a consideration for me, but it seems like the new MB is less powerful than the Air I'm considering. Am I right in this?

For the record, my mom has an older Air and the screen looks fine to me, so lack of retina isn't a concern

Ars Technica and others say that the new MacBook is about as powerful as the 2012 MBA was, so it would definitely be less powerful than a 2015 i7 Air. However, that doesn't necessarily mean that it will feel slower. I don't mean to sound cliche, but it really depends on what you will be doing with it-the fact that both machines have SSDs will make the machine feel more responsive. I get by with the base model 2013 11" Air (1.3GHz) and I can honestly say that most things I do don't feel slow at all.

Thanks! I don't usually do anything too intensive but occasionally I find myself needing more power - my current one especially is getting too slow for me. In addition to not having to go from 15" to 12", I think I'll go with the 13" Air for a little more power too since I'll likely be using this about as long as I've used the old 15" unibody.

Super excited to finally get a computer with an SSD drive :D
