Thanks for all the replies. I know I'm going to enjoy the ip4 loads, and will be happy with it even if a new one comes out. I was simply unsure of how long these things hold their weight. It will be nice to finally be able to test the audio for the games I score....

Back to reading the manual - and trying to figure out how I'm going to pay for this!!
2 more days :D

Thanks again.

I've never had an iphone before, simply because I could not afford them. I'm scoring/doing audio for games on the ios now, so need one. My parents have kindly helped out to make it a quasi-xmas gift.

I see that the ip4 is 'approaching the end' of it's cycle, and people say a new one will be out in June.

I'm not so much bothered about this - seeing as it is hard, without unlimited funds, to keep on top of the latest and greatest.
What I'm really asking is, how long before the ip4 becomes "obsolete"? I'm targeting this at folk who have had the older iphones and perhaps are still using them? I asked my mum to order it for me (it is cheaper in Singapore where she lives) and it's been three weeks since so I can't return it. I assume I could sell it in a few months and get a good price (have protectors and a case standing by for as soon as it comes out the box), but the question remains whether that is necessary- even if one comes out in July, will it be a change like from the 3 to 4? Or Minor updates? Will I be able to upgrade to the latest OS?

Excuse the speculatory nature, I'm new to the iphone and its workings.

Thanks in advance.

Congrats on your Iphone a new phone comes out every june so there is no need to wait just enjoy it and when the new one comes out just upgrade it if you feel the need too.

I just bought mine last dec16, a gift for myself and my first iPhone.
I love my iP4.
The best phone ever.

Most people get a new phone because their contract is coming to an end or their current phone has a issue that cannot be repaired. If you do not fall into that category then the best thing to do is to wait for the iPhone 5, if not then the iPhone 4 should be good for at least until the summer of 2012.
