Side note, is it really worth it to use a laptop fan pad (the usb one that goes under the laptop and is also a pad) or is it not really needed for SSD hd's? It doesn't get really warm unless it's being heavily used for downloading updates for 20min

No, those are completely unnecessary. Your MacBook has a fan built-in to keep itself cool as necessary.

This would probably be a good start. Useful aggregator of Mac/OSX news - most of the sites listed a reputable - work your way through them, looking out for the Tips/Productivity sub-pages...

I was so hesitant on getting a MacBook Air but it's perfect for basic home use. I thought I would be disappointed with 4gb ram but it works just fine. Candy crush works fine on Facebook where as my older pc with 4gb ram and 2.3gh can barely keep up. Then again it's an amd. Wife is so jealous now she wants one lol. Maybe next year if they release a retina mba
