Did the partition get reformated? Good luck. Here's a starting point http://raviratlami1.blogspot.com/2008/06/how-to-recover-corrupted-ntfs-data.html I am pretty sure there are linux tools to do what you are trying to do, but I'm at a loss when it comes to naming them.
