Hi guys, just thought I would share my recent experience, it may even help you. I had noticed that my 2011 Mac mini has been getting extremely hot when idling . istat showed that although it was only using 2-4% CPU when idling the CPU temp was in the high 70s (Celsius) and the fan RPM was in the 3000s So I opened the bottom of the mini and there was a bit of dust but not heaps. Anyway I cleaned out the dust and also cleaned the dust off the fan (just by blowing lol...I though pressurised air might be too strong). Any way now for the last 48hrs it is idling back at low 50 degrees (celcius) and fan RPM is back around 1700! If you have never cleaned out your Mac mini like me it might be worth it!
