i'm not sure how many people have seen this ad yet, but if you watch sports, you probably have. the ad starts out with a bunch of men in their 30's in a jam session singing with guitars and the such. nothing unusual, until they start singing, "viva vigara!". at that point i reach for the mute button and change the channel or something.

there are a few things that disturb me in that ad. first is that the men don't look like they would have ed. when i think ed, i think older men, not healthy looking younger ones. second, it's the fact they are singing about a drug and that it will solve all their problems (older folks may remember an ad in the 50's with a jingle 'ddt is good for me' when we found out later it wasn't). it's just disturbing in several different ways i can't describe right now. i'm sure i'll see it at least once today on football.

Really, you thought they'd have a group of geriatric patients holding the backs they threw out when they got hopped up on Cialis?

my favorite comment is: Now they have drugs that give you a 7 hour window. What do you do with the other 6hours and 56minutes?

I told my buddy that and he said, "what are you, some kind of marathon man?"

I've seen those commercials around. I spend time watching stuff on demand either on websites or on Joost and they come up every now and then...

I agree with you about being weird. I was with a friend watching CSI or something, and that was the only ad coming up between sections. Just imagine two guys in front of a MB watching Viagra commercials... just weird. :p

It's a vile, putrefactive steaming pile of garbage - as are the majority of "professionally produced" commercials. And most advertising in general for that matter.

I agree with you on that, but then I feel the same way about professional sports as well. So I guess the two go hand in hand...

I have seen this ad a lot and it was even shown on Disney Channel,Nick, ect. and it is disturbing escpaclly when its on childrens networks

Compared to the flaccid penis the normal erection probably could be considered massive.

Lethal

I find the word flaccid to be underused in the world today. Any gratuitous reference that involves the word flaccid deserves kudos...

I've seen that ad a few times on ESPN and even sometimes on ABC when they would have college football on in prime time.

Actually, it's Larry The Cable Guy. He says, "They have pills that give you a 5 hour erection. Well that's great, but what are you going to do with the other 4 hours and 53 minutes?!?"

now i didn't know that. i doubt children will know what ed is, since it's related to s.e.x, so marketing this type of stuff on a network kids will likely be watching unsupervised is just disgusting. another reason to mute the ads, if not skip them altogether.

I think this is an unrealistic criticism for a drug ad. Ads usually show people who are better looking than the average person the product is being marketed to. In this context, the ad is trying to get across the idea to potential customers that they too can be young(ish), manly, have fun, and bone.

The more general problem is that we have drug ads at all. Ads for prescription drugs should, of course, be illegal.

That's like saying only old people get cancer.

ED rates might increase with age, but keep in mind that often the primary issue is psychological, and so men of any age might have issues the drug can help resolve by amplifying lessor reactions.

That said, yes, it's a disturbing ad. But, to me, no more so than feminine hygiene ads.
