I figured it was about time for me to complain about something. Can't kiss apple's butt ALL the time right? I never timed how long it took to charge my iPad Pro cause I always did it when I was asleep or busy at work or something. Today I just figured why not. I'll drain that mofo down to 10% (which is really hard to do apparently. Thing lasts forever) and then put it on the iPad charging block and time it.

Good thing tonight is my night off from work because I wouldn't have been able to finish timing it. It took THAT long. I figured maybe 4 hours ish. Somewhere in that range. But this is what I got: 5 hours and 20 minutes to get to 99. Not even 100. 99! Whaaaaaaat? That's absolutely insane for a consumer device. Some people have shifts at work that don't even last that long!

What I've always loved about Apple is they don't seem to rush into things. They sit back on a comfy chair and patiently wait for little developments in tech to blossom around them. Screen tech. Processors and memory. Batteries. And it's been kinda their philosophy to wait until you can "get it right" before rushing out there and just doing something. That way when you put something out there you have a more complete product. It would've made sense for them to take advantage of usb 3 charging speeds and release it with that in mind. New cable and charging brick and all. They could have even touted it as a feature to get people excited. But maybe I have a false idea of Apple in my head. After all. Remember the iPad 3? The one that was barely powerful enough to drive the display? Ughhhhh

The charging speed doesn't affect me cause I charge while I sleep so I'm really complaining about nothing, but 4 hours is a stretch but you can justify it with some bs excuse. 5 and a half? No no no no. And no. And maybe a few more no's thrown in there for good measure.

Ahhh. Feels good to complain about something.

apple is in the business to make money not give it away but realistically charging over night does give a full days usage.

I was at like 40% when I tried to run that sucker down. It took...way too long to drain that battery lol Jesus Christ man...Screen brightness all the way with a movie playing at a loud volume and split screening other activists and it just wouldn't die. That right there is the reason I'm not really upset about the charging times. It's just kind of a wtf thing. Nowhere near a deal breaker

Apple already offers the lightning to usb-c and with macbook adapter you can fully charge your ipad pro in about 2 hours
Has anyone bought it and tested charge time with it?

It is ridiculous, like you I charge mine overnight so for the most part I'm not too bothered.
But I just know there's going to be a point where I could be doing with it charging quicker.
And that's where Apple aren't daft, feel free to read that as greedy I don't mind, they release a faster charging option at a later date and it *only* costs us £65 to get it, assuming you don't have the charger already.

It should have been the default option included in the box, will I still buy it, @!*#"*$ probably.

There's a 6-page thread right on the main page about the topic.

Yep. reading through it now. I'm a little tempted to get the new charger brick and cord. 2.5 hours is as fast as my phone. Wow

Trashy and uncool, congrats.
Hey thanks man! I'm hoping my 600 foot yaht has an outlet free for me to charge my gold plated iPad Pro. My girlfriend who is also a swimsuit model (who has boobs that are way to big. Just omg) always wants to plug her stuff in when we're on our getaways to the island that I own. You know how it is. I have problems like everybody else

I bought one and... Worth it!!

i usually charge it overnight, but now I don't have to. I can charge while using it, and fast charge to top it off.
That's awesome! What all did you have to buy with it to get this working? Did you buy directly from Apple?

What a whiner! Just go plug them into your private jet!

Well that a weird review

I don't know how a USB amp meter works, but if it's like a regular ammeter then it has to be connected in series with the circuit carrying the current (the cables), between the charger and the iPad. If this is the case then it's possible that the amp meter made the charger revert to regular USB charging rates.

(As we know, Apple chargers have circuitry inside which negotiate the charging speed (= the output current) with the device).

Umm what do you expect that big thing it would charge in 2/3 hours??!! Sorry but NO!!

Assuming you have the 12.9 inch iPad Pro, I mean think about it for a minute the 12.9 inch iPad Pro has a much bigger battery then the 9.7 and 7.9 inch iPads so that means it takes longer to charge And taking 5 hours and half to fully charge the big battery that is completely normal for that size of the battery in the 12.9 inch iPad Pro and it is common sense really after all!

I have an iPad Air 2 It takes about 3 hours to fully charge my iPad Air 2 from 5% to 100% but most of the time it is over night when I am a sleep but it would nice if it had fast charging tho. :) :)

I think my iPad Air 2 has a faulty battery because it takes about 6 hours to charge to full.

Weird you should get it checked out at Apple or whatever place you bought the iPad to see if you get it fixed or replaced.
