I was determined to declare I didn't want an iPad, but the closer we get to the launch date the weaker my resistance gets. I just wish it came with a bigger hard drive and a front facing web cam. Two things I cannot, for the life of me, understand why they(Apple) omitted. I honestly don't mind lack of flash...yet. Multitasking? I haven't found the lack of it frustrating in the least. What else is missing?

You can't figure out why they couldn't have a bigger hard drive (it's actually a solid state drive)? Probably because there's no way to do that. If there is I bet it's too expensive to be realistic.

Web cam, blah. Very awkward to iChat with.

Multi-tasking. If they were going to release something this monumental it would have its own spotlight in a 4.0 OS event, not just a "by the way".

I think stuff like a front facing cam and multitasking will come with time, either in future versions or possibly software updates (in the multitasking case).

We could go one day without a thread like this.

Unfortunately we're going to go from "I wish it would" to "I wish it did".

Sorry bud. These threads are like Cable Television. If you don't like what you see on this channel then don't turn to it.

If they can fit a 128gig SSD(or a 256gig for that matter) into a Macbook Air then I think it's plausible for a device that's much bigger than an iPod touch.

First of all, those drives aren't necessarily compatible. You can't stick a 128GB SSD from a second gen Air into the first gen Air, even though it would fit.

Secondly, look at the prices of those drives for the MacBook Pros. You'd be adding $350 and $500 respectively to the cost. These things don't offer the same kind of BTO options.

I'm always surprised when people want a front facing camera... honestly, I just don't get why anybody wants to be stared at while talking. I was all excited about my MBP being able to video-chat... then when I tried it out, it felt awkward, unnecessary and like a frivolous novelty. I found myself staring directly at the image on the screen, just as I knew the other person was staring at me... which I didn't like.

An Apple-style solution to multitasking is coming... I'm betting on it. ;)

And, a bigger hard drive? Really? I'm actually curious; what do you need a bigger drive then what's offered for?

I understand wanting these things for individual reasons, but I certainly don't think it's an omission.

True, but flash memory is really expensive, so putting 128GB of flash memory in a handheld device would likely triple the cost. That's why SSDs are so expensive right now. In a few years they'll be cheaper, but not now.

I want to agree with this, but I think the iPod disproves this a little. Each iPod Touch upgrade has doubled the capacity each year(without a significant price jump), and since we're due for an upgrade in the not too distant future I would guess the price jump wouldn't triple. If they produced a 128gig iPad for $799 I would totally jump on it. Of course I'm only guessing it would be $799 considering each wi-fi iPad only has $100 dollar price difference and they double in capacity each time.

What else is missing? Printing. The ability to use a normal stylus. Mouse support when on the keyboard dock. Both to help keep the screen clean when using. A full fledged OS. Normal USB ports and device support. Worldwide ubiquitous free web connectivity. A built-in kickstand. Removable, user replaceable battery. Multiple user account support. User expandable memory. A second internal speaker. Headphones. Broad codec support.

Oh that's right, it's a big iPod. Never mind all but the missing headphones. ;)

I'm the same way, TS. I've decided to wait to see what's included in gen 2 ( I REALLY hope that it doesn't take too long to come out).

Just think, next year when revision 2 comes out it will be:

    32GB, 64GB and 128GB

iPhone this year has surely got to have a 64GB model like the touch! GeG I remember the days of running a PC with a 500MB HD:D

I guess the front facing web cam is a matter of personal choice. I live far away from my family and I like web chatting, but that's me. As far as hard drive space. In truth, I can never have enough. I have a huge video library and I'd like to carry as much of it as I can. I know I would probably never watch it all, but at least I would have more options.

Just wait until you have kids and you have parents or in-laws who live out of state and want to see their grandchild. You will then understand the massive appeal of video chat.

In the old days, people used to talk face to face. Not only would they stare at each other, they would also smell each other's odours and *gasp* sometimes even touch each other!

I'm so glad technology has allowed us to forego all that yucky human contact!

I'm sure as the leaked case images with a spot for the camera revealed, that there was one. Two main problems is that video chatting really hasn't taken off because people don't want to look at eachother and talk that long, and the other is that people also talk with their hands. With an iMac or MacBook, you are free to move. Sure there is a dock, but people really won't want to hold this thing and each subtle movement will get the other person nauseous. I'm sure they tried it and it sucked. If it's not ready for primetime then they take it out.
