Well I have had some long threads on here on weather I should buy one or not also the WIFI or 3G choice. So I went to BestBuy and all the had were the 64GB in stk, all the other stores are out even Apple so I bought the 64GB plus I am a Silver member so just incase I do not like or change my mind and go with a 3G I have 45 days on the return.

So what are the best FREE APPS plus the ones that you really need on here, thanks.

Silver member gives you 45 days, eh? I didn't know that. I've spent enough money there I bet I'm a platinum encrusted diamond member by now. Oh well.

Just starting out, I recommend Goodreader. It's only a buck and offers a lot of functionality dealing with keeping pdf as well as other files with you on your iPad. You see, Apple decided to treat the first gen iPad exactly as if it is nothing but a giant iPod Touch which means every app is sandboxed and the only commonly visible files are in the camera roll.

One use I have for the iPad is carrying around class notes. I have an entire semester worth of handouts in Goodreader.

Another important app is iBooks. It's free. Just get it. Then there is Kindle for iPad. It's free. Just get it. Now comes the interesting part. You can choose to buy books from Amazon or from Apple. If you buy from Apple, you can only ever read them on your iPad for many months to come. If you buy from Amazon, you can read your books on a PC, Mac, iPhone, iPad, Blackberry, well you get the idea.

I also recommend the iWork apps. I only have Pages and Numbers for now but I'll probably get Keynote one of these days. I should mention that if you expect to handle files seamlessly think again. The "official" way to get files on and off your iPad is through a usb cable via iTunes. And with 64 gig, bring a lunch when you sync.

This is just the start. There are many more apps, but these are the "basics" to get you going.
