That sometimes 1 day shipping items you order from Walmart.com come same day somehow ?

It is not where you pay to have it delivered same day either. It is weird.

I still don't understand it.

I have had them deliver me part of my order with DoorDash before in the last year. Makes sense when things are coming in multiple packages anyway, someone can just grab what the nearby store has and bring it in a bag and not have an extra box taking up space in shipment.

They could be doing it the same way Amazon delivers same day too...

The COVID scare started my family shopping on the net and having as much as possible delivered (ie staying out of stores). Gotten used to the practice and still do a lot of shopping online. One of the advantages is it can look at different stores for a particular product without having to actually go to those stores and check it out. Shipping is another issue because many of the stores do it differently. I can live with that.

Do you live in a large metro area? I hear shipping is faster there. I go to Walmart in person but usually go on Amazon for online shopping because of their fast delivery. If Walmart can ship things out faster I might consider them.

You picked the right number in the routing algo lottery ;).

I actually love the fact COVID opened up the shopping online and being able to pick it up. I no longer have to go inside a grocery store, unless it is a last minute thing. I freaking love it. I haven't been in a store to do my weekly shopping in almost two years.

I have done the same at walmart as the one near me has a grocery store inside and sometimes the prices are better than my local Vons, sometimes and yes I have had them deliver on the same day.

I think shopping in the US* has fundamentally changed for a lot of people who find online shopping offers greater choice, better prices, saves time and provides more convenience. The thing is, everyone is trying to catch up with Amazon.

*Can’t speak for the rest of the world.

I started Doorash and home delivery because of covid. I continue to do it now because I got used to it and got lazy ;)

LOL... I guess you could call it lazy... I love the fact I don't have to take "X" amount of hours out of the day to do my shopping. Have it all on my phone and can have it delivered or picked up. Either way, I am saving time and yeah you are right, there is a bit of laziness thrown in there. HA

You trust Doorash?

There’s articles in our community about how the drivers would rummage through the food bags and steal fries and other items. I would never use DoorDash or Uber any those delivery services.

I’ll gladly make a trip to the restaurant or grocery store, -versus- some disgruntled driver put their grungy hands on paid for delivery items.

I ordered a $1200 generator from Walmart. Surprisingly it came early, the delivery process was smooth and the box arrived in perfect condition. Delivered into my garage.
