Could literally be a hundred things. They made a fuss over 'Liquid Retina', so the popular consensus is 'Retina'... Personally they should've just put an 'i' at the end and ran with it, "iPhone XRi, now 50% faster around corners.".

I wouldn't have thought it would be Retina, the Retina display has been around in some form for years, but I'm probably wrong.

All iPhone displays are called Retina so it's highly unlikely the R stands for that. Probably stands for Remix
