Um not to be rude but I think that looks hideous. And the resale value of the phone just went from hundreds to nearly 0.

once i found out i have free access to my university's two epilog 36ext 75w co2 laser cutters, i designed up a little phone tattoo. What do you guys think?

good job bruh..you just shot yourself in the foot for reselling purposes...

nobody will touch it now.

I would pay extra!

Bikes rock, it's also clever and tasteful.

Im not worried about my warranty because I have AppleCare+ so at the very worst, I'm out $79. Totally worth it

Don't worry, your warranty isn't voided. They don't void warranty for third party engraving on iPod or iPad, but they of course won't preserve the engraving should you swap it out under warranty. No reason why this should be different for the iPhone.

For example, see http://support.apple.com/kb/index?page=servicefaq&geo=United_States&product=ipod for iPod.

Will the custom laser engraving on my iPod be preserved?

If your original iPod was personalized by Apple and you arrange service through Apple, you will be asked if you want your replacement iPod to be personalized with the same text. iPod personalization is not available in all countries or through the Express Replacement Service. If your original iPod was custom laser engraved by another company, your replacement iPod will not be personalized.

Very impressive. I would pay more for a model with a small, sophisticated engraving. You're very talented.

Good idea so that nobody try to steal your iphone. They could hide it with a cover but it will be there forever.

Maybe the best location would be on top so that when you are calling people see your logo.

Well, maybe he's not planning to resale his phone but I like the engraving because it makes the phone uniquely his in someway. Really cool stuff there!

They'll probably treat it as cosmetic damage (really no different from drawing on your iPhone with a marks-a-lot, which doesn't void the warranty), assuming they even catch it and not mistake it for a skin, etc.

Either way, iPhones returned under warranty will be refurbished with a brand new case, screen and battery so not really a big deal.

I guess what I was more referring to was the loss of the engraving.

Doubtful... As others have mentioned, I would buy that phone off him at full price with the engraving like that. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean that others won't.

It won't void the warranty. I laser engraved my work logo into my i5 and still had warranty work done on it. But if you want to use any of the trade in programs down the road they won't take it so your stuck with it unless selling it outright.

Something said only by people who are in fact being terribly rude.

Nearly 0. Right... While it's true that engraving affects resale value in many cases -- particularly if you want to sell it to a company that resells phones -- I don't think something small and tasteful like this would turn many people off. It certainly wouldn't make the phone worthless. Maybe just slightly harder to sell.

Could be even easier to sell if the buyer was a biker :p

In the ITLL. I have after hours access and I'm trained on the laser cutter. You gotta do both in order to use the laser engravers/cutters. Send me a PM, maybe I can help you out.

What are you studying? I'm a junior in aero at CU.
