From what I've read, AirPods are great wireless earbuds for Apple Watch series 3. However, it only comes in one color. Along with their long hanging shape, the white color makes them stand out too much. With that shape, they need to be black in order not to draw attention. Especially in my case since I have a round face.

So my question is which wireless earbuds besides AirPods work the best with Apple Watch series 3?

Yikes!! $299. Almost double the price. I assume Apple will still honor warranty after the AirPods have been painted?

That's a question for Apple. It would also depend on what was wrong with the Airpods that would require replacing the battery case or Airpods. But I believe they could reasonably deny any warranty work if Apple believed some the paint contributed to the failure.

Just bought a pair yesterday, and a AW3 LTE and you are right i would rather have them in black and they should have a smaller size too since they wont stay in my ears too well...

They completely disassemble and dye the casing, then reassemble them. Apple most likely wouldn't warranty them. But Colorware would depending on what's wrong.

Have you considered buying a pair and applying one of the rubberised paints?

That way if you do need to warranty them, you can just peel the paint off.

I'm a fan of the AirPods for sure, but if they aren't working for you, you might want to check out the beats x. They have the same w1 chip that allows for the easy pairing. I have a pair of both and prefer the AirPods but the beats are nice too.

I would have preferrred black to begin with but I'm so used to mine now that I barely notice that they are white; I certainly haven't had any odd looks in the street for wearing them.

Only looks I get are from other people wearing AirPods, and there’s kind of nod of shared appreciation. Simply can’t imagine how awesome they are until you use them. I often forget I even have them on.

Hmm..that's interesting. No strange looks like I imagined. I'm going to see how many people I run across wearing them and notice if they stand out in the crowd or not. Thanks for the research idea!

No one cares. White earbuds have been around since 2001 an the original iPod. Most people just assume you have regular buds in your ears. Only people that actually notice they’re wireless are other AirPod owners and the occasional insecure Android owner that has to defend his platform of choice by denouncing everything else.

I too would have preferred black, but it is what it is until it isn’t. Who cares what others think, just be you.

Another option. https://www.slickwraps.com/devices/cool-stuff/apple/airpods.html

They peel right off, so no fear of warranty issue. Not sure I like them, but still an option for some.
Problem with skins, is the ink. The oils and wax in your ears will transfer the ink to your skin, leaving you with spots in, on, and around your ears.

I managed to snag the Apple Watch Series 3 GPS+Cellular. It's arriving tomorrow; therefore, I need the wireless buds right away. I just ordered the AirPods because I know they will pair with the watch seamlessly. I am so anxious to use the watch as a phone! I have iPhone 6 plus. I think I'm gonna pass on 8 and X and upgrade my phone next year. Maybe it will be X2.

I have 3 different kinds and I'm not in love with any of them but they all have redeeming qualities:

Bose SoundSport - They're comfortable but a little bulky and stick out a lot. Sound is amazing.
BeatsX - Good isolation, but this is not ideal for calls. I typically take one out for calls so I can hear myself.
Jaybird X2 - Most comfortable out of the three (keep in mind this is subjective) but I'm not crazy about their sound. I guess if you want something that will not stand out, these would be my recommendation.

I had the Airpods for quite a while. I tried everything to make them fit and look better. I got bud covers, wings, and black decals for the stems. I used to wear them upside down too. They stayed in better, sounded better, and looked a little less dorky going up the ear than dangling down like a drinking straw, but finally gave up. Interface was an A or A+, comfort was a C (hard plastic) and sound was a B-. We're stuck with that hard plastic design another year, it looks like, but many people seem to like them, my ears may be too big.

I'm trying the Sony WF-1000x. They are grade A for sound, comfort, and staying in. Functions not as good as Airpods, only 3 hours charge outside the charging case and retail for $200. but they are on ebay as cheap as $55. Look kinda space age. They have problems with video sources but there is an update supposedly for that. Iphone or Watch music plays great. An app allows EQ and other settings. They have some noise cancellation too, great sound and comfortable.

I just don't get people who say they look funny. They look like every Apple earbud since 2001 minus the wires.

I found these on Amazon. They're made by APskins. There is quite a selection of colors. These are skins for AirPods. They don't completely cover but tone them down quite a bit. About $8. You get 4 skins in a pack. Good for people like me. First one I put on looked like my cat had done it. Actually she would have done better! The second attempt went real smooth then I did the other Airpod and they look nice. I have one of their silicone cases on the Airpod case mainly because it has a ring on the side that let's me hang it from my Keychain. No interference in the ear or charger. Just be sure you leave a tiny bit of white showing at the bottom so chrome ring is not covered. This could cause charging not to happen.
Is a lot cheaper than buying new Airpods. Yes I have a series the watch and they work great.
