It simply doesn’t work! Everyone in my family shares his/her iPhone location with each other. What used to be very reliable now is almost unusable as it takes forever to update and sometimes will not even show accurate info. I can’t figure out how Apple can take a $1500 phone and put software in it that is WORSE than the previous versions.

The overhaul of the app is likely due to the new Apple tags we're expecting to see later this year, and centralizing all of this "find" functionality.

I agree the new app has it's weaknesses, so be sure to submit feedback:

I used Find My Friends daily with my family for years and have been using Find My since the first beta without issue. Tells me the same exact info...except it is now easier to contact, get directions or add notifications. You don't have to "refresh" anymore after 1 minute...it is automatic...what is it exactly that you do not like?

EDIT: and for me, it is as or more accurate than Find My Friends was. Not sure why it would be any different for you in that respect.

yep, agree. No way to refresh like the old app.

You don't have to...it's automatic...so they removed it as an option.

EDIT: Just tested it...one minute on the nose from when I first located my son...updated on it's own. That's as much as the former refresh would let you do. A minute is a long time when you're staring at it.
...and just did it again...one minute later.

The one change I really don’t like is they got rid of the Find my Friends widget. I used to be able to swipe left from the home screen to see where friends and family are but now you have to load up the app for that. If Apple are releasing Tile-like tags I’d have thought a widget would be even more useful for checking your car is where you left it, etc.

My “find my” app does not refresh. I have to force close and restart to get a refresh. App sucks!!

I suppose it’s a privacy thing, but I don’t like the fact it notifies someone that you’ve got a notification set when they arrive or leave a location. I used to use the features on my kids, but probably will have to manually check their location.

Works fine for me. I do notice now that there is no refresh button however I find the refresh time to be about the same time if would refresh as if I was hitting the button. However if you are hell bent on killing someones iPhone battery if you tap on their name it updates, it will zoom in on their location tap the map again and zooms out, tap their name again. The location data is encrypted and transmitted through Apples iCloud servers so its a snapshot not a data stream.

If you are tracking someones location because you need to know when they are arriving somewhere you can just set a notification and when they enter the geofence you set up you are notified. Its creepy because they are unaware. However I use it when friends are coming over so I know when they are close.

Presumably when one asks others to join the Find My list you discuss what it means. It's not creepy when both acknowledge that it allows tracking the other's location at any time, and geofenced notifications can be set up through this feature. What's creepy is if you don't disclose that.

I know I'm not on anyone's Find My list who I wouldn't trust with and feel comfortable knowing my location at all times.

You both need to read above....in the new version, people are notified when you set up a notification for them.

Not “creepy” anymore. Hah.
