I've had my iPad for a week and I was tweaking with the email and the next thing I know I deleted it. I went and added it back in but now none of my mail is being delivered to the iPad but I think I can send out.

Last resort I looked in the manual and I think it said once deleted there's no bringing it back. Anyone know what I can do?????

    Relax, your email isn’t deleted.
I don’t know exactly how the iPad handles email, but I am going to assume your email is IMAP. All your messages should re-download once you open up Mail, as long as you set up your email correctly.

You THINK it said that? Have you tried taking another look?

You can delete and add your email account as much as you want.

Email is not stored on the iPad. Which email service do you use?

That's not correct. In fact, that's the point of IMAP. Your email is stored on the server so you can always download it to any client. I've retrieved email messages on my iPad that are from long before the iPad was a twinkle in Steve's eyes.

does the iPad have a ‘redownload all read messages’ option?

If you are using IMAP you don't need that. Just open your IMAP folder. Email messages will download, and keep downloading if you scroll through the folder. I have three IMAP accounts setup on my iPad and that's exactly what I do.

    Alright, you are probably right.

And this made me realize something kinda strange.
Through my hosting package (like most...), I get unlimited email addresses. I currently have two set up and they are both IMAP but the incoming address is POP.emailaddress.

They both have the same settings (basically). The strange thing is, Mail (Mac) shows one as a POP email address and the other as IMAP.

POP3 sucks. Especially if you use more than one email client.

    Lost e-mail

I'm not worried about the old mail. I have that on my desk computer. I'm just not receiving anymore so I can't check mail while away from home. The Manual says, "Deleting an account means you can no longer access the account on iPad". I have put my email back on but mails not coming. My account is Pop3 w/comcast.

The manual means that once you delete the email account you won't receive emails on iPad as there is no account to receive with. You can simply re-add the comcast account - google what settings you should use, if required. Your emails are in your comcast webmail so they are not gone or deleted.
Hope this helps, if not just state very clearly what you're doing to add the email again in iPad.
    1. You mentioned it is comcast so you click on "Other" when adding new email account
    2. Enter your credentials and see if it works.
    3. if not, you need to find the right port number and settings which you can find in comcast mail help.

You can also go into iTunes, and connect your iPad. On the Info tab for the iPad, scroll to the bottom and where it says Advanced, check the box to replace mail accounts on the iPad with information from your computer. This will essentially setup your mail again as it did when the iPad was new.

+1 but this will only work if he/she has outlook or some mail program configured.

Thanks RaceTripper. That suggestion did bring my e-mail account back thru my Outlook but I still am not receiving the mail. I've tested it and mail comes in and goes to the desktop but not delivered to the iPad.

Not sure what to tell you. It may be something Outlook specific. Generally, mail setup on the iPhone and iPad is pretty easy and trouble free for me. Outlook is it's own animal though. I use it for work, but not personally and not not on any of my Apple devices.
