Yeah, I want the form factor but reasonable power\performance.
Well, yeah, that's just it, isn't it? If you're a proper gamer, an avid FCP X and CS6 user, then there isn't actually a computer out there that fits your criteria of reasonable performance in this form factor.

Just like @sickb0y in the other thread, you seem to want a Mac Pro killer in a size 1 dress. It just isn't there yet, and you seem angry about that. But you know as well as I do that it isn't the rMB's fault. Its a Broadwell Core M in a fanless enclosure, let's get real, its not like it is hiding what it is.

In all honesty, if I felt like you do and was in your exact situation, I would sell it, get a 2015 13" rMBP. and plan to keep it only long enough to see what 2016 brings to the Macbook lineup. You may like what you see in the anticipated redesign of the MBP line. May be just the combination of form factor and performance you are looking for.

Excellent points MyopicPaideia. I've struggled with the rMB somewhat (but nothing like shenan1982). I'd like a rMBP power in a rMB size but that doesn't exist. In the end I've come to terms that allow me to fully embrace the rMB by admitting it's not a complete solution by itself for me (yet) and using it for what it is. So I sold my rMBP, got the iMac 5K for the big stuff and use the rMB for anything portable. I'm really liking this. If the next rMBP revision gets closer to the rMB then I'll sell the rMB like a hot potato and get the new shiny. But for now this is pretty cool.

Well put.... ouch, but well put, hehe. It's not that I'm angry. I knew I was getting an under-performing machine, but I knew I was getting thin and light. More upset with myself for getting hooked on the ultra-thin. But in fairness, they could easily put a retina screen in the Air, and design from the i5, which would allow retina + decent performance. The air was perfect (to me) except for the screen. I was fine with 11" .. loved it in fact... Was fine with the shortcomings of the Air, all I wanted was a screen that didn't "look like garbage" in 2015, lol

Hey man, I totally get that. I have used and loved the 2011 11" MBA for 4 years as my primary professional machine. Probably due to two factors - my use case and the age of the computer I came from. I am more than thrilled with what the rMB has brought to the table in comparison.

Everything is a huge upgrade in my case. Every. Single. Thing.

Kind of out of left field, but why not pick up a refurb. iPad Air 2 and put a keyboard case on it? It should perform somewhat similarly to the rMB but for a fraction of the cost (especially with iOS 9). All this while you wait to see if Apple makes your/my dream come true and puts a Retina screen on an otherwise perfect MBA.

Just a thought.

I've tried going all iPad and it just doesn't work for me. I need the full OS x experience.

Screen yes. SSD yes. RAM yes. Processor no. And unfortunately for me that's the one that drives the greatest amount of displeasure in the experience I'm having with it.

I think you just have to find the right product that matches your needs. rMBP for you then.

Currently I have both a rMBP and just got delivery of my rMB. For my use cases, the rMB is more than enough. I argue I wanted ports but I could live without it. I rarely plug anything into my machine except for headphone ports and power adapter. Occasionally a USB drive but not often enough to care. I'll have the adapter attached to that USB drive.

I always wanted ports but I rarely use it. So I'm taking the leap and see if this machine will do me good. I wish there was a 1TB SSD option.

I haven't own a MBA before. I've been waiting for the MBA to have retina but it never came.

Just FYI, the London Regent Street store finally has Macbooks in stock, although it's best to go in early. This wasn't the case about 2 weeks ago, so hopefully the situation improves in other stores around the world too.

I nearly walked out with one yesterday morning, but I decided that I really want the BTO option. The want to impulse buy was strong, but I managed to resist it... barely.
