very nice. thanks :)

Who got a BUMPER today? How's it feel???

Thinking of going back to the Apple Store to pick one up. Not due to reception issues (though it may help as I understand) but just to have something to make this phone a little less slippery.

So how does the bumper feel? Nice and tight? Will it stretch as time goes on? Is it more of a hard plastic than rubber? Any info would be much appreciated!

hmm looks a lot nicer than I thought. :)
Still waiting for white, though!
Did they have any other colors in the store?

I ordered it online on the 25th but from what I've heard Apple stores only have the black bumpers. No 3rd party cases.

Its a harder plastic, smooth and not very rubbery but it still has a nice grip to it... it has metal buttons built in for the volume up and down as well as power... very nice quality overall.

I like the feel. It's got soft-touch on the inside but a hard plastic edge that gives it structure. The headphone jack is the stretchy part that lets you get it in. I can't imagine it will stretch too much over time unless you are taking it on and off frequently.

It's probably overpriced but I feel much more comfortable with it. The metal buttons are also a nice touch.

It feels almost suction-y... like it's easy enough to remove when you pull it away to the sides, but you can press the the sides of it onto the phone and it really grips on there and doesn't slide around at all. Overall, it has a nice feel to it, and the metal buttons are a nice touch.

Maybe not worth $30, but it's much better than a cheapo silicon case in my opinion.

My wife and I have never been 'case people.'

She decided to give the bumper a try since it seemed different. She lasted about 90 minutes before deciding it wasn't for her. I haven't touched it yet but she e-mailed me: "I'm sure you won't like it."

So I can't comment on what it feels like, but it seems like it's not going to turn many 'case-haters' away from their chosen path.

Looks good, very high gloss on the outside of the bumper. Buttons feel solid for volume and power. only slient switch is a true cutout. It is very hard not soft like a soft back shell. It has a very low profile lip so I don't think it will provide much isolation from back scratches if the surface you place the iPhone 4 on has thicker then a couple of sheets of paper.

So sand, grit, or other large particles will still reach the back if you slide across a surface.

It does fits well but I actually miss the metal band on the sides after only 1 day. Perhaps a stainless color bumper would be interesting. :D

Great perspectives so far! So do you guys prefer the look of the iPhone with the bumper or are you using it for other reasons and prefer the look of the exposed antenna/frame?

And sorry mgmusicman94. Just saw your poll. But if these times have taught us anything on MacRumors it's that you can never have too many threads on one subject. :p

from accessories forum...

Not bad, but not the best it could be.

Bumper + iP4 is still not as thick as 3G, maybe a smidge narrower, but taller than the 3G by approximately the depth of the metal part of a USB plug.

Hard plastic around the sides -- thicker than I like -- is bonded to soft rubber around the edges.

Fat fingers may have trouble flipping the mute switch.

Apple's own headphone plug just barely fits all the way in, so I can see where aftermarket units may not.

I would not have bought one without reading about all of the reception issues.

almost perfectly snug. just a very minute amount of play on the sides between the phone and the bumper.

the main reason i got one is so the glass is raised above a flat surface when you lay the phone down.

feel? nice grip assurance.

I really like the bumper so far. It's exactly what I want it to be even though it'll be better once it's pink. I'll take a black one for now.

I'm not a case person. I generally don't like the feel. And my 2g has made it 3 years without one and it's been dropped more times than I'd like to admit. But this time around I wanted a little more protection. The mostly glass design has me a little worried to tell the truth.

The bumper is just enough case that it makes me feel like if it falls on a corner, it'll have a good bit of shock absorption. And if it then tips onto it's face or back the bumper will still keep it elevated off the ground. I actually love how it feels in my hand and while using the phone. I like it more than naked. And my phone doesn't have a reception issue so I'm still running perfectly. Plus my boyfriend and I now have indentical phones so once I get my pink bumper, we won't be asking who's phone it is.

All in all, it was worth the crap I went through today to get it.

Pleasantly surprised by the bumper. Much nicer than expected. Price is pretty ridiculous though.

My reception bars are still going up and down but texts are going through. Without the bumper, I'd have to lay my phone down to get texts to send.

I've decided to head back to the Apple Store and pick one up. Like the idea of having something to elevate the phone when it is placed down on a table or something. Will come back with impressions!

got the bumper. it raise the phone off the table but the headphone jack is the deal breaker. can't plug in my headphones. You need a straight jack in order to plug it in, unfortunately, the jack on my headphones are L shape.

I love the bumper but it has a major flaw. The 30 pin connector will only accept the apple cable, or one the exact same size. My auto plug, and other accessories won't with with the bumper on. It really bums me out, because otherwise, I love the bumper.

Got my bumper via Fedex today. It seems to be protecting well. Does anyone know if zagg invisibleshield will be compatible with the bumper?

i hope so. got the shield for the front and a skin for the back. still waiting for them.

Honestly, i dont linke the Bumper. I mean this product dont protect the back of the iPhone. I need a protection for the back of my iPhone.

It seems to me, that Apple only sells the Bumper because of the network connecting problems.
