Can I ask how you got these great looking transparent windows?

Thanks

you will get use to it, I went back to a PC and find i love the thumbnails of picture... no more downloading guesses!

Just takes time you will love it :)

I honestly think windows is better at these things and I am more productive with it ... Windows is always very intuitive I never asked anyone how to do things as its so obvious. Having to look for an option or a keyboard combination is not very good.

I remember feeling that way too when I just started using the Mac. I think other people have said it, but you get used to working this way and you start to understand the interface, and then it just "makes sense." I hate the way windows works now, especially the way the windows work. I think you may just want to resign yourself to these facts, because the Mac has been just like this since 1984 and won't change :).

I honestly think windows is better at these things and I am more productive with it BUT all the crashes, viruses and freezes as made me loose all faith in windows which is why I switched to apple. However even though I think apple has these flaws it looks better and still is a pleasure to use so will overlook these shortcomings.

I'll also agree like the rest of the posters here, that it's mainly a "getting used to" thing. I work with 3 different OS. Linux, Mac OS X, and windows... They are all different. :(

Also consider browsers in a windows world. People that like IE think firefox sucks, people that like firefox hate IE, etc. But, the thing is that most people that are using firefox used to use IE. The switch was awkward at times until they got it.

About the directory changing problems, you can put a "Path" button if you right click on the finder toolbar, the select "customize toolbar" and then drag the "Path" button to the toolbar... very easy :)

i remember seeing an official apple screenshot somewhere here on the forums which showed that you would be able to customize the main color of the system. Right now you can only make the system colors blue and grey, but in Leopard you can make it pink, green, red, etc.

I don't think Windows is particularly intuitive at all. I think because most of us grew up using windows, we think it is intuitive, because we can no longer analyze its user interface functions from an impartial point of view. The Windows user interface is pretty much deeply ingrained into the minds of the majority of computer users.

I find the mac user interface to be quite intuitive when I think about it. I bet that if you put a person who never used a computer before in front of a mac, they'd have a far easier time learning how to use it than they would a Windows PC.

I find this to be the case ever since the days of early Mac OS.

Hi I am a fairly new mac user.
Overall I love using my imac, its a pleasure to use and HAS NEVER CRASHED. My PC would crash/Locks Up/slow to a snails pace I'd say twice a week.

However there are some annoying things which dare I say are better on the PC.

1) File navigation. Going back is a nightmare. Also why are the windows always too small and you have to drag them to make them a useable size. With windows the +/- and custom buttons work well. The red green and yellow buttons don't works as well I think.

2) Thumbnail preview of photos. You have to drag the window bigger to see the preview of the selected photo in the left hand column. What??? This is a bit stupid compared to windows filmstrip or display as thumnail options. A big weakness I think as I work with photos a lot.

3) Window sizes- why are they always an annoying size with sometimes the bottom bar covers the window you are looking at. Why don't they just fit the screen when they are opened.

4) The mouse. Still haven't figured out how to use all the buttons. the middle ball wheelie thingy is too sensitive and before I know it I have pressed it and my widgets on display ( I love the widget things though)

5) downlaoding files. I still haven't figured out wher ethings go when you downlaod files/programmes. Very confusing.

Overall I love it though but I hope the next version of this ***** cat has improvements

Don't worry, i don't even have a mac but i got the hang of my friends mac after a while, (not including the mousepad)
