I love that the Neo is fanless

It`s so convenient to have it on your lap, on your bed, or leave it on overnight for whatever reason and not having it heat up or hear a fan spinning or having to consider not suffocating the fan exhaust.

To me that is the biggest day to day convenience i experience of the neo.

The biggest day-to-day convenience for me? The fact that it WORKS. No need to mess with Windows BS - everything is straightforward, and the Neo simply does what I ask of it. Second place? It's easier than snot to run Google apps on it.

Are you sure? I'm pretty sure the laptops with G4 CPUs were difficult to keep cool too.

One reason I would never buy a Neo or MacBook Air is I don't trust computers without active cooling. Even Apple Silicon produces heat.

Actually Apple was marketing how cool their PPC based processors were compared to Intel, back in the day

Maybe it wasn't until the G5 that thermals became an issue. I do know that Steve Jobs complained about how difficult it was to cool that CPU.

I get where you're coming from (I was the same way), but it really is in a league of its own. I have yet to feel my computer get warm, let alone hot.

486 was the first CPU class that required a fan. The Pentium cemented it.

Fanless is a must have if you own cats. My old Gateway laptop vacuumed in enough fur to seize the fan and burn up the motherboard.

I agree 100%. While passively cooled machines will be ok in many respects the lack of a fan does limit there actual usage always causes some form of throttling

Love that for you, but this is the same with every Apple silicon Mac ever made with the same usage you'd use a Neo for.

The amount of throttling doesn't matter at all. What matters is actual performance.

An M5 Air outperforms an actively cooled M1 Pro MacBook Pro even when fully heat soaked but you do you.

As one would expect given that the M1 MBP came out 6 years ago. I certainly hope that the 5th gen processor would be faster then the first gen. I don't get the comparison, it doesn't prove anything other then Apple is doing a great job designing processors.

The fact remains, a passively cooled machine will throttle a lot quicker then an actively cooled one, and circling back to the Neo, this machine throttles nearly instantly.
