there'll always be 'others who agree with you', no matter what your claim is :/

anyways, have you turned up your volume _in call_ aswell?
when not on a call, you only turn up the ringer volume

Maybe someone you call speak to quiet, its already loud enough in my iphone 4. Hmmm.

Of course I have.

No, I have tested this. iPhone 4 ear speaker is just too quiet. That´s a fact.

Perhaps you should take it to the Genius bar then and have them look at it.

I, along with others, are not having any volume issues, so it might be that you (and your friends that have a similar issue) may have a defective unit.

Regardless, I think it is worth bringing it in and having them look at it.

My wife got her iPhone 4 the day before I did (her's came in the first, early, shipment). She called me to tell me that she had gotten it, but couldn't figure out why I sounded so muffled. She would switch to speakerphone and could hear me fine, but when she tried to listen through the earpiece, it sounded like I was underwater.

She later texted me to let me know that she had not removed the plastic wrap from around the phone.

I bet she's really sexy. :)

Or by coincidence just mine and my friends iPhones are broken.

But seriously I´m thinking if I would hear your phones who say it´s loud enough, I´m betting it would be exact same volume I have. In other words I just don´t believe you guys being enough critical or haven´t tested this properly. And there are others who agree with me.

So obviously this is a big controversy.

If anyone has hearing issues in this thread it is me (I have cc on my TV and in a loud bar, I can't hear crap), and my iPhone 4 is very loud now. I've actually had to turn the voume down. Why don't you go to the Apple store and see if all the phones are too quiet for you?

i sense troll OR 'turning up ringer volume but not call volume'

I only figured this out after having my old 3G for a few months....

The ringer volume is controlled by the side switch when the phone is not in a call but these buttons switch to being used to adjust the call volume during a call...

Have you tried increasing the volume during a call?

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Mobile/8B117 Safari/6531.22.7)

Had the same problem and I thought that's just how it was until I tried my dads and his was WAY louder than mine. So I took my phone to the apple store and they confirmed there was a problem so they just gave me a new phone. (this is my third iPhone 4 now). But I recommend that if anyone has this problem they compare it to another iPhone 4 and then if needed take it to apple, they're great about trying to help people out.

I agree it's not loud enough

I've had 3 4s and there where all the same. Fine in a quite env but not loud enough in the car doing 80. My 3GS was the same

My speaker's loud enough but AT&T's 'skip every 5th word' policy does make it tough to understand people. Lord help us if BOTH ends of the call are on an iPhone. That's when things get really tricky.

Quite possibly. Or the "perfect hearing" you think you have isn't as perfect as you think.

But seriously I´m thinking if I would hear your phones who say it´s loud enough, I´m betting it would be exact same volume I have. In other words I just don´t believe you guys being enough critical or haven´t tested this properly. And there are others who agree with me.

Yeah, everyone is lying or incapable of listening to their iPhones properly except for you.

So obviously this is a big controversy.

This isn't a big controversy. It's only a controversy in this thread. That you created. It's barely a controversy.

I've owned the 1st gen, the 3GS, and now the 4. The 4's ear-speaker volume has been the clearest and the loudest. I rarely need to use it at full volume.

I have absolutely no issues with the iPhone 4.

I don't think the phone has any problems, mostly the things I don't like are related to iOS.

The absolute lack of any customization is absolutely ridiculous.

Why doesn't apple allow me to choose the sound when I get an email? How is that breaking the Apple rules? I don't mean my own sounds. Even a chance to choose from the sounds that are already in the phone would be good enough.

It's silly.

You should also be able to create and move pictures around directly from My Computer. All you can do now is copy or cut the pictures and only the ones inside the Camera Roll.

Actually, you should be able to manage your pictures in the Photos app. What the hell?

I understand music because they want you to use iTunes. Fair enough. But photos?

When I click on the "Share" icon I should have a choice to "move" the file(s) just like in the email app to move emails from one folder to the other. We should also have a "PLUS" sign on top on the main Photos window to make a new folder.

I also think it's very strange all you guys reporting issues with the proximity sensor. I don't know what you guys are talking about. I put it next to my face. Screen goes black. I take it away. wait 1 second, screen comes to life. No issues here.

...making phone calls, because I can´t hear the person at the other end. The ear speaker is just too quiet and unclear even with 100% volume. And yes, my hearing is perfect. Never had this problem with any previous phones.

just get it seen by apple (if its not jb)
