i Mac playing up

Help/direction appreciated,

Having trouble connecting to internet with i mac via airport. Connection seems slow and regularly non existent... I have a Powerbook which connects from same location via airport with no problem. Just want an easy life.... any advice out there. Keep it simple though as I'm not the brightest...

Are you, by any chance, running 10.4.10 on your iMac? There is a known bug with AirPort on Intel-powered Macs that causes behavior similar to what you describe.
