2009 was the year iPhone got MMS and cut/copy/paste.
And 2008 was the year the HTC Touch Pro was released. It did all of that out of the box. The HTC Diamond was released in 2007. It did that out of the box.

My Sanyo Katana I got in 2006. Copy/paste and MMS - out of the box. iPhone? Summer of 2009.

EDIT: Oh and all of this was on Sprint for goddsake!

just took my 3GS out of my car where I used it as music source. Boy does it look and feel weird. I think I like the new IOS much better than 6.1 but there are some nice looking features on it.

I use my 3 for the same - really miss the feel, shape & size compared to 4, 5, & 6. The 6 six feels great but not as pocketable.

I keep my old 3GS in my car as an iPod for the car, and I have my old original iPhone in my bag with me as an iPod.

My original iPhone is running iOS 1, and it's a fun blast from the past whenever I pull it out to play some music on it. For my needs, it works well enough. My other two original iPhone in the collection are running iOS 2.2.

I miss those first few months when it felt groundbreaking. The touch screen was unbelievably responsive compared to every other phone I had used with a touch screen prior. It felt like a true next-gen device and I haven't relived that experience since. Reminded me a lot of the jump from SNES to N64.

Sure, I miss that. But the features now blow my nostalgia away - especially with being able to take nearly professional photos with a small pocket device.

OMG. I got that phone in 2008 and had it collecting dust for the longest time because I couldn't even pay someone to take it. Fortunately it still worked and was able to get rid of it as a Verizon trade-in in 2015 towards a Note 5 and got $200 for it. Don't miss it all and I think the Dell Axim X5 PDA in 2003 with Sprint CF2031 compact flash phone/data card was a better experience and the forefather to phablets and tablets. A competing product called Compaq iPaq also had a so familiar name.

I liked it a lot. Was able to experiment a lot with it.

Sent it off to a guy who was able to use it and keep his Sprint SERO plan after his TP died.

Still think the original was the nicest design and the felt the best in your hand. Loved that phone. Still have mine but it doesn't turn on anymore :(

I certainly do not miss iOS 1 and the first iPhone. What I sometimes miss is a good UI. Apple is getting worse. If I just look at how I have to unlock my phone now and then the new message app or music app. There are certain aspects that are not going in the right direction.

This pretty much. Honestly, I don't miss the performance of my original iPhone at all. I still remember staring at checkerboxes while waiting for relatively simple webpages to finish rendering.

I'll sell you mine if you've got a few grand lying around. It's on iPhone OS 3.1.3 though and refuses to be activated like all original iPhone models. Works fine on WiFi, however. Has a small ding on one corner.

You know what's funny? I miss iOS 7 from 2013 when this thread was created! I love my 7+ and iOS 10, but there was a simplicity with the iPhone 5s and iOS 7.
