I'm in a bit of a situation. I was deactivating some SBSettings in order to see what was messing my AirPrint on my jailbroken 4S (5.0.1). When it resprung, I'm not getting back to the lock screen. I tried rebooting, and got the apple logo... Then spinning wheel (for a few secs) and then it stops. It'll stay like that for a bit, spin a little more, then stop again.

I'm at a loss. I tried SSH'n into it. I tried to see if plugging it into iTunes would get it past the spinning wheel of death. iTunes recognized it, and even let me transfer my downloaded apps, but still didn't fully boot up.

I tried absinthe, but it doesn't work with a passcode.

Does anyone have a suggestion? I'd rather not lose my JB and have to move up to 5.1.

TIA

I had that problem to, and as I think, you have two options: you can reboot your device many times until you will get into safe mode and then you can undo whatever you did. The other option is to download the ipsw of iOS 5.0.1 for 4s from apple's website and to restore your device into it (shift when you press on restore). Hope I helped!

I'm still trying option 1...

However, I can't do option 2, as Apple stopped signing 5.0.1, and 4S' can't be restored to 5.0.1 via TU/SHSHs... Yet.

But thanks for the suggestions.

I am thinking if you try and run the command to remove packages you can try removing SBSettings (package id: sbsettings), which would effectively undo any changes you made.

If you have installed something and need to uninstall it without losing your jailbreak/can't get into your phone to do a traditional uninstall, you can always do the following:

Download/Install iFunbox http://ifunboxmac.com/

Plug in your phone via USB and open up the SSH Terminal Window

You need to know the package name that you installed "com.XXX.xXX" and run the following command:

apt-get --purge remove (source name)
(If that does not work you can try "dpkg -r nameofpkg")

Then type in "reboot" in the command line and hit ENTER to reboot the phone

You are talking like I don't know how RedSn0w works...
While it relies on limera1n for the exploit, that is not what is needed here.

wow re is nice to people not helping and rude to those that actually know what they are talking about, Dhlizard knows what he speaks and has helped many many people. Good luck with your issue.

Try running Redsn0w on it.

For the benefit of those of us who might not understand Redsn0w as well as you, you advised to "run Redsn0w on it".

What Redsn0w function do you suggest the thread starter use to fix his issue ?

If there is something Redsn0w could do that I am overlooking, I am always open to new information.

I am well aware of who dhlizard is, I am just a bit surprised as he has never, ever queried my advice before. I am wondering if he thinks I am an imposter in which case a quick DM on twitter would sort that out.

I am only acquainted with one Confucious. If this is the person I know, then he knows "his stuff", and perhaps I am overlooking a Redsn0w benefit in this case.

The title said he needs a guru.
When you're telling him to download 5.0.1 and restore his 4S to that version then you're not even close to that:D

While it doesn't JB, I believe it might help in this case.

That wont help one bit.
Wow, some posts in this thread:D
If you dont know an answer dont just guess and tell him to do things that dont work for his case or make any sense guys.

Oops, it's Yova. NVM :)

Thank you EWR

I will give these a try. One of the sites' info sounds promising.

yes... Yes... YES!!!

Cool beans... I got my phone back! Thank you EWR for suggesting iFunbox. I used to access my file structure (specifically DynamicLibraries) and turn back on the processes I had turned off with SBS. Apparently, SBS just changes the name of the disabled process file (ie. xxx.dylib > xxx.disabled). So I changed them back, and all is well with the world.

Thank you again EWR, and everyone else who contributed.
