i need a homework app for my mac (10.4), that syncs with an app on my iPhone. I'm looking for something cheap, but that also has a lot of features and is reliable.
I need it to keep track of my homework assignments.

    Wirelessly posted (BB 8900: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_1_2 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7D11 Safari/528.16)

What do you mean by "homework"? Like files and documents? Please be more specific.

    Whats wrong with iCal?
it sync with iCal on your iPhone.

....I would like an app that actually does my homework, now that would be something....

I need automatic synching. Like the simplenote app. Or at least something that synchs at a set time everyday.

Or a desktop calendar. Seems like that would work too.

You're not going to find anything that syncs at a set time every day. It's not possible because the iPhone doesn't do background processes.

You can use the iPhone Calendar app with a Gmail account, and it will sync to Google's servers whenever you make a change. More info

You can access it by logging into Google Calendar from your Mac. You might also be able to set it up to sync directly to iCal, but I'm not sure because I don't have 10.4

It is always a bit tough when you decide on the solution you want and try to find what doesn't exist. All while you pass right by a bunch of really good alternatives.

I try to avoid asking questions when I've already made up my mind.
