My cousin some how deleted my App Store.app can someone please upload a copy for me?
Why should I reinstall just to replace 1 app that someone could kindly upload?
Good luck finding it. Just saying. You sure it's not there somewhere? It's a system app and you cant just drag it to the trash
Pretty sure it doesn't work like that...
couldn't someone just email you their mac app store app like this? and maybe that would work?
If 10.8 is being used as a development environment instead of as a main OS the OP shouldn't have a problem just quickly reinstalling the OS. He'll have to reinstall it completely when upgrading to the final public version of Mountain Lion anyway.
What happens when you go to the button?
I don't know for sure, but I would imagine the MAS is hardwired into OS X.
Do you have a Time Machine backup? You can always restore to the time before it was "lost".
I don't have a time machine running, it started to give me error about not being able to access the drive, even though I can manually just fine.
I expected it to be baked in as well, but the button does nothing when clicked.
Well, with no good backup, you may just have to reinstall.
Nermal and Senseotech we both nice enough to upload me a copy of the App, and I'm now working just fine.
Thank you you two.
Actually the app store icon is in the applications folder which you can drag down to the dock.
OP says his cousin deleted it.
I said the OP "said" his cousin deleted it. I didn't say he "could" delete it.
Just trying to be nice.
Also I "think" in some 10.7 variants ( might have been 10.6.8 ) the Appstore was an app and not part of the O/S so it could be deleted.
Need to look it up to be sure.
I checked on my macbook that is still on SL and I was able to put the App store in the trash can. It did require a password, so it wouldnt be something easily done.
No I'm just saying how could he do this when the OS doesn't let you, but since i'm on 10.8 maybe they changed the restrictions and it's different on Lion and Snow Leopard.
Maybe it can be deleted in root. Dunno.
He was logged in as me (my fault for not enabling the Guest account) and ran the command to delete it with an open terminal I had open and already had run a sudo command, so it just let him do it.
He ran: sudo rm -rf App\ Store.app
I think he was just being a jerk.
with mackeeper you can delete pre installed apps. thats how i got rid of the chess app.
Really? So you would rather spend 15-45 mins reinstalling an OS when it could possibly be solved in under 2 mins?
Being a developer doesn't give you the right to be an ass to others. Leave the enforcing to Apple
You know, Apple came out with this nifty tool called Time Machine...
Too cute by half. MacKeeper is a scam.
Who was being an ass? I'm not a developer anyway, just saying how it is.
Everyone on the beta will have to do a reinstall anyway when the final version comes out. What is 15-45 minutes?
