that's a new enough system that lots of native PPC games will run quite well. What sort of things does she like?

    Otto Matic! Great game.

When I was about that age I was playing Quake and Unreal Tournament. Maybe not what you're thinking, but good fun.

I play Halo (offline & online) a lot on my eMac. It runs okay at about 15-20fps but the 1.42ghz model has twice the video RAM so it'd run perfect!

I also play the Sims 2 and runs like a dream. And these two are cheap as chips online now, especially Halo.

I have a few suggestions for your 8 year old Sister and her eMac. All of these games can be found at macgamestore.com for digital download and most have demos for you to try. Also, most of them are $5-$10 and all work with PPC. I have not played some of these games as I am almost 40 and have kids to do that for me.:D Well, I do develop games for Mac though..... Hope this helps.

I just tried to install Nanosaur 2 from the macgamestore and it appears to be intel only. I am trying to run it on a powerbook g4 and I every time I try, I get the warning about it not being supported on my machine. Did anyone else experience this?

Well, the game is definitely for PPC as my Kids used to play it on their iBook G4 and iMac G5. It is even listed for PPC "at least 700mhz" on their site. Just out of curiosity, what PB G4 are you installing it on?

Is it possible they could have stripped the PPC code? I don't know why they would do that. I have purchased many older games form them for my G5's and they are all still playable for PPC.

I submitted a support ticket so hopefully they get back to me soon. I tried the demo from pangea's website and it worked fine. I checked the version that macgamestore gave me with xslimmer and it confirmed that it was intel only.

    age of empires 3?

The last time I tried it, it ran really well on a PB 1.5ghz, Radeon Pro 9700, 2GB. I'm not sure how the 9600 compares to this, but I wouldn't be too doubtful it'll run well!

    eMac Games - MacMAME

    Nemo,

Have you looked into MAME (Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator)? There is a version, called MacMAME, that will run on PPC eMacs. I'm using it on my 2003 1 GHz ATI Graphics eMac just fine. You have to get the game ROMs separately, but those are easy to find. I normally play either Berzerk (you're a little guy running around shooting talking robots) or Battlezone (you're a tank driver/commander shooting enemy tanks.

    Here's a download link (it's freeware):

    Hope this helps!

You can try installing her some old dos games using boxer:

    http://boxerapp.com/
It looks nice with the bookshelf list with games. Just like iBooks

I discovered it 2 days ago and looks really fun. And you can find a ton of old free dos games:) There is a version for 10.5+ and 10.4 so i guess it would work OK on the emac assuming its not older OS.

They are really great machines:) Hope she has fun
