iPod I Need Help!

When i plug up my ipod classic, neither the computer nor the ipod recognize it. When i plug it up, the ipod light turns on but then nothing happens...😕

Try a soft reset, switch the hold switch on then off, then press down on the center and menu buttons at the same time (for a few seconds until the screen goes blank) and it will reboot, then try reconnecting it.
