I've never used a Magsafe charger. I just upgraded to a 16 Pro. Is there a particular charger that will maximize charging and be the most future-proof at this time? I'm not even sure what charge rates are available.

Also - are there cheaper, maybe lower wattage versions that make more sense to keep in other locations?

The standard MagSafe charger (the one that Apple offers for $39) can charge at 25W when paired with a 30W brick. It seems like that is what the current MagSafe technology maxes out at in terms of wattage.

Cheaper MagSafe chargers do exist. Anker makes a 15W version, for about ~$24. I have only tried the standard Apple MagSafe charger, so I cannot speak to how good 3rd party ones are.

FYI, wireless charging creates heat (the faster it charges, more heat is produced. . .) and heat is detrimental to battery health/life. I am going to stick with wired charging when I upgrade from an SE3.

Don't just take my word for it; the info about battery health and plenty of user experiences with over-heating MagSafe chargers are available online. . .

I use wireless charging pretty much exclusively (desks, car, bedside, etc…). Most are 7.5W which is enough since I’m usually just topping it off or charging overnight. 15w options are plentiful but 25w is limited for the time being. But if I’m looking for fast charging I rather reach for a wire with a 30w charger instead. Wireless charging does create more heat and could potential decrease battery health quicker. Personally I wouldn’t give up the convenience when I can just replace the battery if it gets too worn.
