Hi folks.

I have two USB3 hard drives, one is formatted as HFS+ and the other is formatted as NTFS.

I need to copy the data from the former to the latter.

I have a 2017 iMac and also access to a Windows 10 PC. Both are on the same network but I haven’t done anything regarding getting the two talking to each other although this will be a requirement in the future.

What is going to be my best way to do this? I see three potential methods, either have both drives connected to the iMac, both drives connected to the PC or get file sharing working between them so I can copy over the network.

I assume that the first two methods will require additional software but will probably be faster to copy.

Thinking about this as I’m typing, I will need to access the NTFS drive from my Mac in future so am I best getting the network method sorted? I’ve never needed to access my Windows box from the iMac before so really don’t know what configuration is needed. Neither computer is connected to a domain.

Thanks.

Yes, the network method sounds best.
There is also some windows software , hfs explorer (I think) that allows a Windows 10 machine to read a hfs hard drive.

Yeah, that's what I've gone with. It's going to take a while though.
