I want an instant messaging app that if possible pop up for when your not in the app but u get a message... Just a thought and I doubt omit exists but it doesn't hurt to try

Isn't possible yet due to lack of Push notification and Apple not allowing background processes.

However, many apps will keep you logged in after you exit the application. When you go back in, your message will be right there.

Another option is jailbreaking, and leaving the IM App running. At severe drain to your battery life.

Like the other poster said, not possible due to the fact that Push isn't active, there isn't background notification, and apps can't run in the background.

Although, there are a few apps that will keep you signed in.
- Palringo (free)
- Nimbuz (free)
- Pingerphone; I'm not positive that it keeps you signed in (free)
- BeejiveIM ($15.99)

I used Palringo for a long time and is by far the best free one.
I installed BeejiveIM after I got an iTunes gift card and it is well worth the price. When I bought it, it was on sale for $12.99.

Not if (s)he owns a 2G iPod touch.

Out of all the ones people have listed BeejiveIM is the best.

I'm not sure if Mobilechat, Mobilelink IM, or IM+ will keep you logged in.

I'd go with Beejive...

Palringo blows Mobilechat, Mobilelink IM, and IM + away.
Those apps have gotten some of the worst reviews compared to the rest of the IMing apps.

Has Palringo gotten any better? I used it when it first came out but Beejive blew it away.
