My iPhone 4 was stolen last Tuesday. It hurt so much because I had it customized to exactly what I wanted [I'm sure some of you felt like that]. Now my question is: Since I don't think I can live without a jailbreak [lockinfo, biteSMS, etc etc], should I just got android, get an iP4S and wait for a jailbreak, or get an 8GB iP4 and jailbreak with redsnow?

I've invested so much into my iPhone with chargers and iPod kits so it'll be a tough transition to android. However, I think I'll like the widgets and customization that the Samsung Galaxy S2 will offer when rooted.

Thanks!

I think you can answer that better then we can. Look at what offered on the android scene and how you like the android os. Sorry you lost your device. Honestly you know better then any of us what will make you personally happy.

for me I couldn't do a 8gb I4 to small. I'd go 4s I think they will have the jb soon. It's really your budget vs what you like.

thanks for your response. anyone else?

You don't say if you qualify for a subsidized phone. If so, I'd get a 4s. If not, perhaps you could get a used 4 on Craigslist or eBay. Have you thought about that?

I'd steer clear of Android. I've had terrible experiences with my tablet. One minute an app will work, the next it doesn't. Random "Force Closes" and reboots. I spent more time trying different ROMs than I did actually using the damn thing. Maybe pick up a used Android handset to try, but don't burn your upgrade on one.

8GB iPhone 4 gets you up and running straight away, you know the hardware and all your accessories will work.

You should just get Iphone 4s. I had my own horrible experience with Android device. I know there highend android phones that runs 1.5 cpu, rams, etc, but the platform is not great compared to Iphone. GOogle never take their times invest in malware in most apps. Plus, Apple have more apps than others right now. I have Tmobile Galaxy S2 and I hardly play with it. Big screen, 4g speed, Widget and customization is not a big deal. Who want 42mpb speed?? watch porn? :D btw if you want to see "force close" while launch an app then go ahead. Right now I'm selling my GS2..hate it

Android devices always get old in couples of months ...and not all phones will get updates..wit ICS because their phones can't handle it.....

Once you're "i" there's no "A"...hahahha

You can get an i4 used for a decent price on CL or ebay.
You know for me a JB iphone has so much more to offer than a stock one Im about to put away my 4S and just start using my old i4 JB on 5.0.1 and then switch back to the 4S when a JB is out.
Siri and the 4S is great but Im missing my JB packages:D
Bitesms, Sbsettings, MyWi and the rest of cydia Im coming back:eek:

Hopefully not to go too far off topic, but the killer app I need a JB for is NoSpot. My daughter has a stock 4s and every time I pick it up, I inevitably end up faced with the useless (for me anyway) Spotlight Search. Why Apple doesn't let us disable it is beyond me. What? 4 more LOC?

I hear you, one of the first packages I install too and was glad to see it still works on 5.0.1

Android vs iPhone is totally up to you to figure out, I don't think many users here can help you make that decision. Read up on the SGS2 and play with it to see if you like it. Personally, I'm not TOO huge a fan of Android. I'm speaking my own opinion here...but I don't really like all the homescreens. Widgets are cool and all, but I don't need a Facebook widget that shows me my friends' statuses, I don't need a widget to push play for my music. I've become used to Apple's "home screen" of applications, where Facebook updates/music playing is just opening the right app.

For 4S vs iP4, your better bet would be checking out craigslist. If you are due for an upgrade, it would make sense to just get a 4S (if you can spare the money of course...). If you are still on contract, retail 4S & Craigslist 4S will be similarly priced, so that's your choice. But retail iP4 vs craigslist iP4 is a huge difference...an iP4 on craigslist will be 1) larger capacity usually and 2) cheaper. The only downside is that it's used, so take that into consideration too.

If it were me, I'd just save the money and get a iP4 off craigslist and use it until the next iPhone comes out, whenever that may be. The iP4 is still a very usable device and not too outdated when compared to the 4S. Tough it out for some months and go for the next release of the iPhone (if it were me).

So here's the plan: I've decided to rule android out. I'm going to do one of the following - I can steal my mom's upgrade and get a 4S for $249ish. Cons with that plan is that there is no jailbreak yet.

Or, I can get upgrade with the iP4 8GB for $99, but I'm worried about the amount of space. If I want a 16GB, I'll have to get one on craigslist for about $330ish.

If a jailbreak won't be released for the 4S until late this year, I'll be perfectly fine with an iP4. Do you guys think we're nearing the A5 jailbreak and I should just get the 4S?

they say it's near but still no time frame. That's why I admit I'm glad I still have my 4. I have a upgrade coming next week but right now I just love the limera1n exploit on the 4. It's personal choice but every time I'm stock I hate not having sbsettings. Drives me insane. If it were me I think I'd be tempted buy a used 16gb I4 again. They go for about $300 on craigslist in my area.
