Dark side of the moon
I have been rather critical of people upgrading to the iPhone 8, arguing with them about the reason for an upgrade. Doubting there was much difference. I apologize.

Well I am here to tell you I upgraded today, and here is my story:

My wife was impressed with my iPhone 7 plus, and the quality of pictures it took. portrait mode, Live stills... She did not have these features on her 6 plus. She had a 6 Plus with a 16GB hard drive. I was constantly offloading or deleting things on her phone to make space. She asked to trade phones and I agreed. Mine has a 128gb of storage. I did not use my phone much for photos anyways, but I do listen to music. She takes a lot of photos.

After a week with her 6 plus I decided an upgrade was in order. 16Gb is ridiculous. I purchased the 8 plus and I have to say I am impressed. Here are my observations:

1: If you put the phone in a case, you would be hard pressed to tell the difference between a 7 and an 8. In fact the case from my 7 plus fits perfectly on the 8 plus.

2: The phone is fast. Plain and simple. Pages load faster, apps load faster, things are done faster. It is a pretty fast phone.

3: Wireless is charging is cool. Very convenient.

Sorry for the skepticism. Prices are still too high though.

On a side note, I have to admit Apple makes it so easy to upgrade. What phone do you want? What color? What size hard drive? What carrier? 10 minutes later and $800 I was done.

FYI, I could have upgraded her to the 8 plus, but she has a tendency to drop phones and break the screen (2x), and go swimming with them (2x). I thought an all glass phone and my wife was a recipe for disaster.

Yep, us android users have been telling you iPhone users that for a few years now. I told you all once you had wireless charging you would stop calling it a gimmick. It's not a gimmick at all. It is a very useful technological advancement.

I am happy that you iPhone users have finally gotten to experience this technology.

If you were willing to pay the price, the price wasn't too high. When consumers are willing to pay the price that a retailer asks for its product, the price is the right price or may even be too low. It is only when consumers are unwilling to pay the price that the price is too high.

So basically after you gave your wife your old phone, you had an excuse to get yourself a new one instead of buying her new phone with the latest camera… :D

Nope. She didn’t want the 8. The 64gb was not enough storage for the base model, and she did not want to spend more on the 256. My 7 had 128 which is plenty. Besides my wife does not care about the latest and greatest. I actually used her 6 plus for a while. 16gb of memory does not go far. Maybe we can respect people’s choices?

i liked you more when you dissed the 8

My opinion has since changed. During calls the other person fades in and out. Three other people I know with an 8 have experienced this issue.

Then last night I tried to steam some music to my ATV 4, but it kept cutting out. Sound was real choppy. No such issues with three other iPhones in my house at the time.
