That's the issue, I don't really need a portable computer, just a second machine to do secondary browsing and media consumption on whilst on my main computer. Upgrading to a faster portable machine that is just going to stay plugged in 24/7 seems pointless, when my current MBA works fine for just this purpose.
I really like my i5, but the M1 is calling to me hard. Did you setup as new or TM restore from your Intel?
Its hard to explain to the wife why I need a 10th Macintosh in the middle of a global pandemic and I just bought a ROG G14. The ROG is really what's making me want a M1. Its so fast and I want a Mac with that lightning speed.

🤣🤣 Ya i know what you mean. I told myself i was gonna wait a few days after launch to decide. But after watching some reviews on youtube at around 8pm on launch day i just got in the car and went to best buy lol.
The main selling point for me was being able to hook up the hdmi to my tv/monitor and play 4k videos flawlessly while using multiple tabs in chrome. My i3 just couldn't keep up.
I was messing around with time machine for an hour or so and got frustrated and set up as new lol. Apparently there is an easier way by using migration assistant but i'm not too sure.
