iPhone i phone 3gs need help :(

hi Iam from india, purchased second hand iphone 3gs & it worked perfectly but when i updated to ios5 the pblem begins, the sim card i use in iphone3gs doesnt support & i think i need to unlock the device, since this is my first iphone i dnt know how to unlock it..would be happy if some one guid me wth this unlocking process, thanks

You never update a jailbroken and unlocked iPhone using stock firmware.
It will always lock to its original carrier.

You will need to downgrade this to 4.1 firmware, jailbreak & unlock the phone. Follow this thread and you will get your phone back to work;

I don't think that's possible is it? Won't his baseband have been updated? Correct me if I'm wrong though

replaying to dis thread after long time,YES i started to work my phone back with the help of him @Crystal-RX, any way am still in 4.1 firmware, is der any way to update my mobile into ios5??

Yes, you can upgrade to 5.1.1 but you need to preserve yor Baseband from 4.1 during the process.

Download latest redsn0w from here:

Download 5.1.1 IPSW for the 3gs from here:

Make a custom 5.1.1 IPSW with Redsn0w, it will look like NO_BB...

Download TinyUmbrella from here:

Connect phone to USB
Open TU, go to advanced tab an UNcheck set host to Cydia. Close TU an restart computer if a windows machine.

Now with the NO_BB custom 5.1.1 IPSW in iTunes select ALT-restore(mac) or SHIFT-restor(win) and restore with the custom NO_BB ipsw.

Afterwards you will have a 3gs with 5.1.1 iOS and the 4.1 BB, phone will not activated.
Now jailbreak with redsn0w and during the process it will ask to activate the phone, do so.

On your jailbroken and activated phone install ultrasn0w in Cydia and reboot phone, phone should now be working.
