Apple have agreed to replace my old iPhone 5 with a refurbished model. They emailed me the IMEI numbers, when I checked the new one it listed that the phone was manufactured in January 2017. Wasn't the 5 discontinued in 2013?

I know refurb phones are not new, but can there be a new IMEI number for a refurbished phone even though its a refurb? Can the IMEI on the back be different to the one listed in the software?

Thanks.

The IMEI's provided on replacements are brand new. The date provided is the date the device was remanufactured.

So I can presume that the IMEI etched on the back is different to the one that is listed on the software?
