Interesting idea though I'd not take a chance on increasing the heat of my rMBP or doing missing a vent to mask off. I'm happy with the look/feel of the laptop as it stands. Basically I think I'm too clumsy to attempt

Peels right off. As I feared, the plastic feet quickly rubbed through and the whole coating started peeling with it. I think the only way to make this work for a decent amount of time would be to mask off the feet so they don't peel right away.

Makes me want to pick up a used/scratched bottom plate and use some truck bed liner or something durable and permanent.

Or just get a skin

Twice asked on this thread and ignored.

The critical issue is how this material changes the heat dissipation of the bottom plate.

I would ask Plastidip for a comment on the insulating qualities of the material.

Now there are skins out there as well, and frankly, who knows if they are even appropriate.

But the rMBP does throw off some heat when in full swing so its a fair concern.

On a side note, opening and modifying a $2300 computer, thats not meant to be opened, seems foolish to me.

I Plasti Dipped the bottom of my 13" MBP today. Makes it grippy and protected from scratches. If you aren't familiar with Plasti Dip it is removable, it just peels off.

I only just applied the coating, so durability and functionality have yet to be tested. But I can already tell that it is going to remedy the bottom being so slippery.

The look reminds me of the first aluminum iMacs.

So did you only use the black spray? or did you cover it with a clear coat as well? and how many coats?
