iPod touch i pod touch

I think i have successfully jailbroken my i-pod touch, but when i install the applications from 3rd party. I don't see the icons on my screen. I can connect through ssh, and the installer is working i just don't know how to get the applications on. The only thing that i was able to change was the calendar. can anyone tell me what the problem is. I need some help
