I received today my 5S blue leather case, but it was already broken! :( Im glad I booked an appointment for my iPhone 5 tomorrow so I will bring it in store for an exchange, but wow... I sure hope this is an isolated case....

Looks like it was crushed on the assembly line of something. Bummer. I'm sure they will do right by you at the appointment.
 
I'm sorry for you. I'm sure you will get it replaced.

Nevertheless, nice to know how those cases react to extreme forces and how they eventually will wear.

May I ask why you even opened it? Not judging, just a question. It seems the damage (not the tear, but the crushed part) should be obvious from the packaging, no?

P.S. Blue looks nice. Haven't yet seen in person. I got the green and I am digging it! Kind of makes the phone look like a leather 5C. Not a bad thing!
 
Do Apple exchange in store if you originally purchased online? I know that many companies will only refund/exchange via original method of purchase.

If purchased at the time of purchase of a 5s phone -- which I bet is what the OP did, and the case just arrived before the phone did -- it should be covered by the one-year warranty that the phone has, and therefore exchangeable in store. (I've gotten a worn-out lightning cable replaced under the phone warranty...)
