A few weeks ago, I had found an iPod mini on the ground, and since nobody was around, I took it home, posted signs and stuff nearby to see if anyone would claim it.

Waited a few weeks, and nobody showed up. Well, I figured I might as well take a peek at the songs (i don't dig the country, but the radiohead and stuff was cool), and lo and behold, half of them were purchased from the iTunes Music Store. Found an email address, emailed the person, she replied, and she picked up the iPod, expressing her very deep gratitude, and some surprise at me for not just keeping it or selling it on ebay or whatever. (well, for starters, i have my own [very used and now pretty decrepit] silver iPod mini, and pink ranks low when it comes to my favourite colours..) She was also like "how the hell did you get my email address from my iPod?!". Ahhh, the magic of knowing too much about iTunes :p

Well, she stopped by today with a huge ass christmas gift just for returning that iPod mini.

That soo made my day. :D Sorry to bug you guys, I just felt like writing about it :)

Did you open it yet? If so, what was it? Very awesome of you to return it like that. I would have done the same thing, except I would have had to ask on here how to get the email off from it lol.

Yeah. Chocolates, big basket of goodies from bath and body works, and a card :D

And simple, just open the songs in iTunes. Asks for authorization to play the song, and the email address of the account that was used to buy the song shows up :)

So, I see you're just as smart as me. Well then, you deserve a Christmas present!

Good on ya Janey!

To me, the feeling you get inside when you do somthing good is more gratifying than getting an ipod for free.

Hmm, nah I'd say a free iPod would feel much better. But then, I failed Ethics this semester....

And last semester, and the semester before that, and Spring '04...

Shut up.... *sheepish* good thing it's just an elective that i don't have to pass.

And no, I haven't failed it that many times, only done it once and I wasn't even here for Spring session 04 or Autumn session 05 so nerrrr....

This is exactly why I chose to get an engraved pink 6GB mini to replace my wife's stolen stock 4GB mini, even though she absolutely HATES pink. Theft deterrence/return insurance. ;) It's engraved with the quote from Reservoir Dogs "Why do I get to be Mr. Pink?"

Glad to know there are good people out there, may your kindness be returned to you tenfold.

Good job!!! I bet you made this persons christmas. Many people in your position would have quickly sold it on ebay. Im glad you get joy in doing the right things because if that had been my ipod or anyone else I couldn't tell you how grateful I would have been.

that is SUPER awesome :)

It is nice to hear things like this, and also hear that some fellow Macrumors members have some good morals :)

Your story reminded me of when I found someone else's wallet when I was ~13 years old. And yes, I did return it, along with the $140 inside it ;) .
