I just want to get something clear. Apps piracy it's already big enough. I'm already a iOS dev myself I don't support insta****

But..... Do you guys really think blocking this kind of stuff from these forums will help stop apps piracy ?

I'm no expert but I can pretty much be 100% sure it doesn't.

Like I don't think a person that's willing to use this method to get apps will think "oh look macrumors doesn't support it so now I will not use it, I am going to buy my apps" yeah.... Sure.

So what's the point... Someone explain, please.

No it won't stop it. But it does keep macrumors out of hot water should the lawyers ever be called out.

Not allowing it doesn't hurt the cause

is anyone else confused about what this guy is on about?

Go look in the wasteland for threads that have insta**** in the title.

No, this doesn't stop piracy, but it can slow it down. If people don't know what they're doing, it's harder for them to do it. But mostly, it keeps MR safe if something but happens. And, as you say, you are a Dev, so why should we anger a fairly large demographic of the site? Devs are a great resource to the community.

I doesn't stop piracy and I doubt MacRumors can even slow piracy down.

MacRumors doesn't want the reputation of being a haven for piracy, warez, and cracks. I know they can be discussed without crossing that line, but it's easier to ban certain words and discussions outright than trying to get everyone to toe the line. Also, it can and does derail threads and cause arguments. All too often when piracy is mentioned there is much cleanup for us mods. I'm not trying to sound lazy, but past experience tells me that blocking certain piracy words and discussions is good for MR.
