Why would you send anything to North Korea?

Did you watch the video? He was pretty clear on the reason why.
I thought maybe I would elaborate, just incase you couldn't watch the video for whatever reason.

I think the OP wants to see if and how often the AirTag would get hits in someplace like North Korea.

Electronics and internet are reportedly highly regulated there. Maybe not a lot of iPhones like a more developed nation, so the chance of getting hits could be no existent, or maybe we might get surprised and there might be a lot of hits.

North Korea is kind of mysterious, so I am interested if we get more info about it, even if it was AirTag related.

I thought about this when watching the video, and wasn't going to bring it up, but I would hate the idea of someone in North Korea that unknowingly pings an AirTag ended up getting in trouble for it somehow.

The punishments for trivial crimes there are pretty harsh.

Internet virtually doesn’t exist there except in very limited places for limited people. So it’s not going to report location if it’s in that country - if it will arrive at all.

Yeah, I think this is obvious and the OP talked about it in the video, but there are some, albeit very few, people with iPhones active in North Korea according to the phone tracker website the OP mentioned.

So, while remote, there is a chance that something might ping the AirTag.

I wonder if the airtag he sent manages to get into range of the German embassy he sent it to (or where they sort the mail for that embassy) if he could get a position of the airtag by having one of the embassy staff’s iPhone relay the position through some kind of internet link based at the embassy. (I assume there would be an internet network used by staff for routine email/news/personal items, separate from any classified computer networks.)

I'm actually jobless at the moment. I started this YouTube channel to keep my creativity stimulated. Plus it really wasn't that expensive. The entire video was a 200Euro investment - totally worth it for what I learnt about the product!
Let's be real here, you started the youtube channel to help make you money and what better way than to make a thread asking people to go watch a video on your youtube channel. I bet the video is monetized and thus every view you get helps you get more money. If not go ahead and prove me wrong.

Good point.

Yeah, so not impossible to get a hit, and maybe even probable if it gets to the German embassy.

But what's wrong with that?

Absolutely nothing wrong with it.

There are some really nasty ****** comments in this thread, completely unnecessary. I don’t know what is wrong with some people but they feel the need to dig dig dig, maybe to feel better about themselves.

OP, fantastic video, looking forward to the update. And please ignore the negative element in this thread!

so what? Good on him, I watched it and it was great entertainment!

not to be that guy but the embassy of Germany is closed at the moment :D
Oh, I wonder if that’s why the DHL delay, like they knew that.

Anyway, I agree. Who cares if his video is monetized. It is interesting and fun to watch. Obviously, not everyone agrees with my assessment, but enough people do that his post here is not spam— he is adding value! I am looking forward to part 2. Good for you, jobless guy! If you don’t like it that don’t watch part 2.

That's your assumption and you're welcome to it. Not everyone starts a YouTube channel to make money, and usually, those who don't are the ones who end up benefiting the most. On the monetization front, all (eligible) videos are monetized on YouTube regardless of whether or not you opt in as a partner. As a YouTuber, you can either accept your piece of the pie or not. And yes, I most definitely accepted my piece of the pie 😅 - who in their right mind wouldn't?

This is a forum for people to discuss share mac related topics. And thus, I shared my mac related video. I certainly don't plan on getting rich by spamming my YouTube videos on forums.

You're not wrong! I actually figured this out not long after posting the video. Boy was I glad I sent the second parcel! Interesting too, that they shut down the Embassy due to a lack of Freedom of movement.

I thought this too! But I recently found out why it was "delayed".. And well.. I don't want to spoil it because it's going to make for a very interesting video 😂

I think your idea is very cool, and being you jobless even cooler. I hope it will get you something good 👍
Sometimes ago I lived in Europe, I sent a jam to the White House, as a joke -bet among friends. Technology wasn’t that advanced then.. but when I received a thank you note from the White House - signed by the President…probably his sub -sub -secretary, I was thrilled and won the bet. I remember it took less than a month to get the note back .
Pretty good at the time.
