I'm loling so much....this is taking fan boyismn to a new level....If you seriousy can not use your phone without doing that, take it back!

Thankfully mine works.

I am not a fanboy. Trust me. ;) I was just trying something out to see what would happen.

Man some of the responses in this tread would have you believe it looked terrible. That actually doesn't look that bad at all.

I personally would have done just underneath the seam stopping just short of the speaker.

Had one. Used it for 3 weeks. Worked OK. Our two iPhone 4's had garbled calls frequently and AT&T did not know what was wrong. It happened so much, I unplugged the damn thing several times. It got to the point it was only good for TXT messaging. Phone calls were good about 40% of the time. I am not the only one having the issue either - it seems to plaque iPhone owners. Rumor has it - turning off cellular data resolves the issue. Not a fix for me as I didn't want to turn it off and back on when I leave/come home. Annoying.

So there you have it :)

That is pretty annoying.

That's too bad. Mine works perfectly with my iP4. Hopefully AT&T can figure out why it works for some and not others.

Very gutsy. Hope it works out for ya. I myself am gonna pick up a set of these instead. Not permanent and kinda funny. :D

Why don't you get a MicroCell if your reception at home is so bad? That's what I did, and now I get 5 bars and clear calls everywhere at home. AT&T gave me one for free..... and I didn't even have to use spray paint. ;)

I had a MicroCell and it was an utter P.o.S. - I'm in a "marginal area" where, with my iPhone 3G, I could move from one place in my house and have 2 bars and other parts of my house would drop to "no service".

I finally got an AT&T tech to determine the problem I was having and it's a design flaw of the MicroCell. The problem with the MicroCell is that it has the capability to "hand off" the call to a tower from the MC, but it can't do the opposite. So, if I moved to an area of the house that had 2 bars of service, it would hand off the call to the tower; however, when I moved back into another area of the house that had "no service" it could not hand the call back to the MC, and the call would subsequently drop.

Thankfully, the iPhone 4 (in a case) holds the calls much better in my house (yeah, I know - weird, right?) than the 3G ever did and I've yet to drop a call anywhere in my home.

Are you serious? There's no way to just force the phone to stay locked on the micro cell?

That's ridiculous. How would you take advantage of the unlimited talk then based on the micro cell?

Am I confused?

I told this to the AT&T techs. I noticed that when I started an Mcell call and left it on my desk and did not touch it, the bars would go from 4/5 to 1. As soon as I ended the call, Mcell logo would vanish and it would only show 1 bar and AT&T. That too would vanish and it would go to searching, no service and then pop back to 1 bar and AT&T. Then a second later, Mcell would pop back up and my bars would rapidly increase from 1 to 4/5.

I told AT&T that my phone was fighting between the tower and the Mcell. It should NOT be doing that when I am within X number of feet from the Mcell. I was only 30 feet away and it did this. That's why I got rid of it, along with the garbled phone calls. Couldn't stand it anymore.

If anyone else dares to try this, I would suggest going to a hobby store and finding the adhesive foil that is used to replicate chrome (can't think of the name, sorry - it's been a looooong time since I used it.) Many model builders will use this instead of tape to produce a much less prominent line when spraying, and the foil is so thin there's almost no edge for the paint to build up on.

To the OP, you may want to check with someone who works at a body shop. They could tell you how to buff that edge down and not ruin the original finish at the same time. It shouldn't be too hard, but I honestly don't know what to say - I know how to buff paint, but not how to buff paint AND preserve metal at the same time, while also protecting the integrity of an Iphone.

Well, hopefully AT&T will figure out a way to fix the problems you guys seem to be having with your now ex-MicroCells. For me, it was the solution that I needed..... I guess they sent me the one that works.;)

Would i have paid for it? No. I'm glad that the device and the service is free for me.

Anyway, back on topic.... sorry for the slight derailment.

You said that the paint chips off if you pick at it..... for the amount of time and effort you put into it, it seems like it will come off pretty easily. Any chipping yet, or have you been babying it so far?

Thanks for the tip. Not too worried about it though as it was a test. If it was something more permanent I would look into it. I think if I mashed it down while it was still soft it would have less of a line. Either way it's ok for now :)

Yes, hopefully they will :)

There was literally no time involved. I taped it up in less than a minute and it was in the zip lock bag and sprayed in two minutes tops. Total time, maybe 5 minutes. No joke. It was really simple to do honestly.

No chipping at all. I don't baby the phone much, I just use it like my past iPhones. Goes in my pocket when I am out and about and sits on my desk when home.

bestskinever full body skin. 7$, and no paint required.

dumb to paint a phone in my opinion, your resale just shot down.
